Taylor Swift is not a typical 20-something! She donated half a million dollars to help the citizens of Nashville!
As if she needed to be any more impressive, country cutie Taylor Swift has donated a whopping $500,000 to help flood relief efforts in Nashville, TN. Wow, thanks for giving back Taylor!!
According to the AP, “The money will go directly to various flood relief organizations in the city rocked by deadly storms and flooding that killed 30 in three states, including 20 in Tennessee.”
Taylor moved to Nashville when she was 14, and considers it her home. She told the AP, “Being at home during the storm, I honestly could not believe what was happening to the city and the people I love so dearly. Nashville is my home, and the reason why I get to do what I love. I have always been proud to be a Nashvillian, but especially now, seeing the love that runs through this city when there are people in crisis.”
Clean-up and repair costs are estimated to reach over $1 billion. The music community in Nashville have all been “giving their time and money to the effort,” says the report.
During a telethon, which aired on a local Nashville network, Keith Urban, Brad Paisley, Lady Antebellum, Dierks Bentley, Rodney Atkins and other stars played live from the Ryman Auditorium. The telethon will air on cable network GAC on May 16.
