Last night, Kristin Chenoweth returned to ‘Glee’ as April Rhodes, and a new friendship was formed between Mercedes and Quinn. But I think it’s time some of these characters (ahem, Santana and Brittany) got a little more screen time!
Kristin Chenoweth returned to Glee last night as the boozy and hysterical April Rhodes, guaranteeing this would be one of the best episodes of the season. Kristin was absolutely perfect in scene after scene! Whether dueting with Mr. Schuester (Matthew Morrison) or informing everyone of her ambition to put on an “all white production of The Wiz,” Kristin was the best part of last night’s episode by far!
No wonder she is starring on Broadway right now! I think it is high time the producers of this show make Kristin an offer she cannot refuse and get her on the show as a regular.
Also hysterical last night, as always, were Brittany (Heather Morris) and Santana (Naya Rivera). We learned they are both devoted to Sue Sylvester’s (Jane Lynch) master cleanse, and that Brittany has a major problem in her life: “I think my cat is reading my diary.” It has been reported by EW.com that these two will become “full-fledged series regulars” soon — but what these two really need is their own episode!
The low point of the episode was when Kurt (Chris Colfer) became jealous of the relationship between his dad and Finn (Cory Monteith) … I’m tired of this “Kurt has a crush on Finn” story line! Kurt needs a boyfriend on this show and stop the idea of him lusting after a straight guy.
Also, Mercedes’ (Amber Riley) weight struggle was touching, especially when Quinn (Diana Argon) — who was cruelly kicked out of Cheerios because she got pregnant — came to her assistance and helped Mercedes accept herself. Even though Quinn’s lines have been cut in half for some reason (does pregnancy render her mute?) she inspired Mercedes and the Cheerios’ amazing rendition of Christina Aguilera‘s “Beautiful” in front of the entire school. I think this is a great new friendship!
I’d like to see more of the friendships amongst girls on this show! A little less fighting over boys and a little more sisterly support!
