We know you hated your job, Katherine — so thanks for finally quitting so we don’t have to hear you moan about it anymore!
Hundreds of thousands of Americans are out of work right now, so Katherine Heigl’s endless complaining about her ‘horrible’ job as a series regular on ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy was seriously beginning to grate on us. In fact, we’re glad she finally had the chutzpah to officially quit the show that propelled her career!
“I am done,” Katherine, 31, told Entertainment Weekly‘s Michael Ausiello about ending her role as doctor Izzie Stevens. “We just finalized our agreement. Everyone had been working really hard to find an amicable and gracious way of letting go and moving on. It’s sad but it’s what I wanted.”
Although it’s been reported the blond starlet would be leaving her scrubs behind to pursue a career on the big screen, she claims that’s not the case.
“I started a family and it changed everything for me,” says Katherine, who took a three-month family leave from Grey’s this season to spend with her 1-year-old adoptive daughter, Nancy Leigh. “It changed my desire to work full-time.”
We’re glad Katherine is finally moving on to pursue a job that makes her happy, and (dare we say it) we’re glad to say farewell to her character, too. Izzie used to be light-hearted and quirky back in the day, but she’s become so bitter and depressing this season, it definitely won’t be hard for us to say goodbye!
