Sounds like the ex-‘American Idol’ judge is headed back to TV to host a new version of ‘Star Search’ — but does this mean she’s not going to be on Simon’s ‘The X Factor?’
Paula Abdul is headed to back to television, says a new report — just not on one of the shows everyone thought she’d be on.
EW’s Michael Ausiello reports that Paula is “finalizing a deal” to be a host/judge on “an updated version” of Star Search, the original TV singing competition, on ABC, starting this summer. The big buzz last fall after Paula left Idol after eight seasons as a judge was that she’d be on Dancing with the Stars, but that clearly turned out not to be the case.
This doesn’t necessarily squash that other hot rumor — that Paula would be joining her old pal Simon Cowell on FOX’s The X-Factor — but how she’d do both shows on competing networks is anybody’s guess. X-Factor is scheduled to begin in the fall of 2011.
For those of you too young to remember, Star Search started in 1983 with Ed McMahon as host, and gave rise to the career of ’80s mall-stage-sensation Tiffany.
