Lifetime’s new movie Who Is Clark Rockerfeller stars Eric McCormack in the a chilling real-life story of an infamous con man. Lindsey says, “Watch It!”
It’s good to see Will & Grace‘s Eric McCormack back in action! I really missed him, and seeing re-runs on PIX at 11:00 p.m. just wasn’t doing it for me anymore. Now, he’s starring in Lifetime‘s new movie, Who Is Clark Rockefeller? — based on the true story of the man who pulled “the longest-running con in FBI history” — Christian Karl Gerhartsreiter.
Gerhartsretier, the man who pretended to be Clark Rockefeller, an heir to the Rockefeller family, rocked the nation when his scam was discovered … and made a perfect plotline for a Lifetime movie.
In the story, we see Christian’s wife Sandra Boss (played by Sherry Springfield) engage in a battle with the FBI as they try to track down Christian, a.k.a “Clark,” who abducts their daughter, Reigh. And, after 12-years of marriage to the man Sandra believed to be Clark, she comes to realize he’s not the man she thought she married.
Apparently, Christian pretends to be Clark for so long, that he seems to believe his facade as well. On the Today show today, Mar. 12, Eric said, “I think he showed up with this developed persona, but I think at some point he looked in the mirror and truly saw Clark Rockefeller. Con men usually have an end game where they disappear with people’s money, but he didn’t. He was very convincing.”
With each lie that gets uncovered, the suspense builds anticipation as to what’s going to happen to Reigh and to finding out Clark’s true identity. And Eric is really good in his creepy role. Plus, there are tons of suspenseful moments you want to miss!
To find out what happens to Reigh and uncover all of Christian’s deep dark secrets, watch Who Is Clark Rockefeller? when it premieres Sat., Mar. 13 at 9 pm et on Lifetime! — Lindsey DiMattina
