Reese makes big Avon announcement with Michelle and Hillary at the State Department Mar. 10!
Avon lady Reese Witherspoon announced yesterday that the cosmetics company is making a $500,000 donation to the U.S. State Department Secretary’s Fund for Global Women’s Leadership. The organization gives money to NGOs that work on domestic and gender violence issues around the world.
The announcement came at the International Women of Courage Awards, hosted by Reese’s new BFF Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. First Lady Michelle Obama was also there, at the State Department in Washington, DC.
At the event, Reese joked that her Legally Blonde character “happened to be the biggest fashionista who ever came to Washington — until Michelle Obama. Thanks a lot,” according to AP.
Reese is a big fan of Avon — she’s been a global ambassador since 2007, honorary chair of the charitable Avon Foundation, an organization that supports women and focuses on breast cancer research and the prevention of domestic violence. Her fragrance In Bloom is also manufactured by the company.
