Our very own personal American Idol judge agrees with us – Big Mike totally killed it when the Top 14 boys performed last night!
Highlight One – I’m gonna start from the top of the show. The night opened with [Ryan] Seacrest trying to be super dramatic. He went down the line of guys at the beginning, and right before he said, “This is American Idol”. I laughed out loud at how cheesy he was. It made me smile.
Highlight Two – Ellen’s Hug. Ellen [DeGeneres] decided to get up from the table last night and give Tim Urban a hug after his rendition of Hallelujah. It was a sweet gesture.
Highlight Three – Todrick Hall sang Queen’s Somebody To Love ,and I really liked his performance. The arrangement was interesting, and he definitely knows how to use the stage better than the other guys on the show.
Highlight Four – Michael Lynche making Kara [DioGuardi] cry with his version of Maxwell’s This Woman’s Work. The emotions were high on this song, given the meaning behind it, as well as for Michael’s new baby. I wasn’t brought to tears like Kara, but this was my favorite performance of the night.
Lowlight – What is up with every guy playing guitar last night? It seems like everyone is hiding behind the instrument! They think its going to enhance their performance, but it takes away from it for me. I want to see a different instrument. Piano, kazoo…. why not an accordion? Hehe
Cheers – Blake
