Listen to someone who knows – our guest blogger, 28-year-old Blake Lewis – is a man who knows! He did come in as American Idol’s Season 6 runner-up, after all!

#1: Michael Lynch singing ‘A Man’s World’ by James Brown. This guy finally showed that he was really in the competition last night [March 2]. He opened the show off with the right song choice for his voice and set the bar high for the guys from the get-go. He’ll be in the top 12, no doubt in my mind.

#2: Casey James busting out the electric guitar. I really enjoyed this performance. I thought Casey as an electric guitarist added a new element to the show, being that he could actually play well. Most contestants that have tried to play the guit-fiddle fall short when singing and playing. Casey did well.

#3: Alex Lambert. After last week, I thought this kid would be going home, but last night he surprised me. He sang John Legend’s ‘Everybody Knows’ and he did a great job for his second time on the Idol stage. He’s got a killer tone to his voice, now he just has to own it.

#4: The judges were so contradictory last night! Every time they said something to the contestants, they went back on what they had said a second ago, or from what they told them last week. Sometimes they’ll chime in with great constructive criticism and then they will confuse and frustrate.

Lowlight: What is up with all the commercials? There was a commercial block after every performer. “We’ll be back right after a word from our sponsors….” Every single time. So annoying. Can’t wait for this show to be an hour long! Thank you Comcast for my DVR, you have saved my love for television.

Hope everybody is having a great week so far.

Love and Happiness – Blake
