Are you thinking what we’re thinking? ‘X-Factor’ is just like ‘Idol’ – so why is Simon leaving one for the other?
Before there was American Idol, there was The X-Factor. The U.K. reality talent competition is Simon Cowell’s pride and joy (as well as his bread and butter). Now that the bristly judge, 50, has announced his departure from Fox’s smash singing show, we thought we’d show you what you’re in for when X-Factor launches in the U.S.
Unlike Idol, worthy X-Factor contestants are sent to a singing boot camp, and are allowed to compete in group. After several elimination rounds, remaining singers are assigned a judge/mentor. One out of twelve has a shot at winning the Factor crown, unlike Idol’s starter 24.
Now for the most important questions: will Simon remain his insensitive yet accurate self? Will he bring Paula Abdul on to play judge again? Will he change his wardrobe to include anything more than black V-neck t-shirts?
Sometimes it’s nice to know there’s comfort in consistency.
