Will you still watch Idol even though its most popular judge might be leaving after this season?
Say it isn’t so!! We’ve heard rumors for a while now that Simon Cowell might be jumping the American Idol ship, but we kept hoping it was just hearsay. Unfortunately, Simon’s older brother, Tony, confirmed the disappointing news on Dec 21.
“Simon will leave Idol at the end of 2010 to concentrate on bringing the American version of The X Factor to U.S. TV in 2011,” Tony said on his podcast The Cowell Factor. He added, “As I sit here in the sunny Caribbean with my family, a press statement is being prepared, which will confirm what everyone expected.”
Bah humbug! Some Christmas gift this is! What does this mean for Idol? For one, we’re going to be another judge down for the count in the wake of Paula Abdul’s recent exit… leaving Randy “The Dawg” Jackson as the sole original panelist.
Luckily, we still have one more season with Mr. Cowell, his cutting replies and his V-neck T-shirts! Will you still watch when Simon’s gone, or will you switch your alliances to The X Factor?
