Fifteen epic shots from ‘The Vampire Diaries’ season finale reveal scary (and sexy) times ahead in Mystic Falls.

Graduation is always a bittersweet occasion, but it looks like The Vampire Diaries‘ version will be heavy on the bitter and light on the sweet. A collection of just-released stills from the May 16 season finale reveal Elena (Nina Dobrev) in dire straits, as she appears to face an army of witches, possibly attempting to turn her humanity back on. I don’t think we’re in Mystic Falls anymore, Toto! The April 25 episode of The Vampire Diaries — aka the back-door pilot for The Originals, which I’m crossing my fingers for harder than ever — introduced us to the “dark side” of New Orleans, where Klaus’ (Joseph Morgan) former protege Marcel (Charles Michael Davis) rules the roost. You know, when he’s not rocking the karaoke mic. But Klaus and Marcel’s buddy-buddy routine fell to pieces as Klaus became resentful of his former BFF, and vowed to steal back his kingdom.
