After the news of her mother’s illness, it’s no surprise she wants out of town — and who else to lean on but her BFF-again, Stefan.

‘The Vampire Diaries': Why Steroline Won’t Happen This Season

Courtesy of CW

Say it ain’t so! As much as Steroline shippers want Stefan and Caroline to get together this season, it doesn’t look like they’ll be sparking up a real romance anytime soon. Sounds like the show is going for a slow build-up — Delena style.

Steroline fans have been hungry for Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Caroline (Candice Accola) to finally cave in to their feelings since The Vampire Diaries season four. Season six of the hit show has given us more Steroline scenes than ever, but don’t expect them to be an official couple by season’s end. Executive producer Caroline Dries revealed in an all-new interview that Caroline is not focusing on “romance and love” whatsoever.

‘TVD’ Spoilers: Elena & Damon Will Go Through A ‘Honeymoon’ Stage

Courtesy of CW

Delena fans, don’t fret over that almost-kiss that was ruined by Kai on the mid-season finale — we’ve got a good feeling it will happen in 2015. And the team behind the show agrees!

You may remember that The Vampire Diaries ended with Elena (Nina Dobrev) finally about to give in to her feelings for Damon (Ian Somerhalder). Unfortunately, that was cut short, but that doesn’t mean their reunion will be. TVD‘s executive producer, Caroline Dries revealed in a new interview that they want the pair to go through that “honeymoon period” of a relationship. We can hope that includes a lot of steamy make outs in front of the fire, right?

‘The Vampire Diaries': Stefan & Caroline Are Endgame Over Stelena

Courtesy of CW

I know what you’re thinking — Stefan and Elena are the original couple so they have to end up together. But just hear me out. Steroline is endgame.

There are certain people who just belong together. Sure, Caroline (Candice Accola) literally has chemistry with every single person on The Vampire Diaries, but we saw on the Thanksgiving episode, that her connection is really with Stefan (Paul Wesley), and it’s unlike any other. Yes, it’s even stronger than the chemistry between Stelena.
