Janet Hubert Slams Jada Pinkett Smith For Boycotting Oscars: ‘It Just Ain’t That Deep’

Well, this just got ugly! Janet Hubert, a.k.a the original Aunt Viv on ‘The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air’, served up some serious shade to Jada Pinkett Smith on Jan. 18 when she posted a video slamming the ‘Magic Mike XXL’ star for threatening to boycott the Oscars. Seriously, prepare to witness some MAJOR sass!

The shade is so real! Janet Hubert — better known as the best original Aunt Viv on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air — came out swinging at her former co-star Will Smith, 47, and his wife Jada Pinkett Smith, 44, on Jan. 18, when she posted a 4-minute long video slamming the Magic Mike XXL star’s call to boycott the Oscars. As it turns out, Aunt Viv was having none of “Miss Thing’s” (oh yeah, that happened) comments about the awards show’s lack of diversity, and you better believe she let her know all about it. Watch it here!

Academy President Promises Dramatic Steps After Celeb Backlash To All White Oscars

Yikes! With the all-white Oscar nominations for the 2016 acting categories, the Motion Picture Academy’s president has put out an unprecedented statement about the ‘lack of inclusion’ in this year’s contenders. This issue is getting REAL!

Wow! The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences President Cheryl Boone Isaacs has taken the brave task of coming forward and admitting, “yes we have a problem” when it comes to the complete and total lack of diversity among the 2016 Academy Awards contenders. It’s become such an issue that the ceremony’s host Chris Rock is sarcastically calling it the “White B.E.T. Awards.”  On Jan. 18, as the nation recognized the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. holiday, Cheryl, who is African-American herself, put forth this bold public statement about the issue, which we have in its entirety:

For the second year in a row, actors of color were snubbed of Oscar nominations. From Idris Elba to Michael B. Jordan to Benicio Del Toro, here are the black actors and more actors of color that should have gotten recognized by the Academy this year.

Seriously? In all of the acting categories for this year’s Oscar nominations, not a single actor of color was nominated. Michael B. Jordan, Idris Elba, Will Smith and the entire Straight Outta Compton cast wowed fans and critics, but the Academy shut these black actors and other actors of color out completely.

Look who’s back, back again! Chris Rock is officially taking on the role of Oscars host on the show airing Sunday, February 28, 2016.

“It’s great to be back,” Chris Rock said in a statement on Oct. 21 when ABC announced that he would be hosting the 88th annual Academy Awards for his second time. He also hosted in 2005. The comedian, 50, has been spending some time behind the scenes recently, directing Amy Schumer: Live at the Apollo, but we’re so excited to see him go front and center!
