‘American Idol’ Recap: Randy Jackson Throws Contestants Under The Bus

Courtesy of FOX

On the Feb. 27 results show on ‘American Idol,’ we learn that Americans cast 71 million votes and now one of the Top 13 — soon to be Top 12 — has to go home! Also, Randy Jackson displays a pretty confusing mentoring style.

The Feb. 26 performances were a bit of a debacle, so we weren’t too sure what to expect with this results show. For example, Malaya Watson has been a favorite so far but her performance last night was not up to her usual gold standard. If Malaya gets voted out, we’re going to need to have a talk with America. Also, we thought that Randy Jackson kind of threw Malaya — and the other Idol hopefuls who didn’t fare so well — under the bus! Rude. See below for who didn’t make it to the Top 12 and tell us if you agree with America’s choice!

American Idol contestants get thrust into a pretty high-pressure situation. After an endless audition process, the contestants are put in a house together and placed in front of live cameras to sing their hearts out for America’s favor. Meanwhile, their competitors have to sit, watch them perform, and sometimes hear that the best performance of the night is one that isn’t their own. However, HollywoodLife.com caught up with the Top 13 last night, Feb. 26, after the first episode of live finals, and we learned that not everything is as it seems! Read below for what MK Nobilette had to say about her Idol experience so far, and what Alex Preston had to say about Harry Connick Jr.‘s negative feedback!

American Idol fans loved spunky songstress Kenzie Hall from the moment she first opened her mouth, so they were especially furious Feb. 20 when she didn’t make the top 13. In fact, she wasn’t even given another chance to sing before getting the axe! HollywoodLife.com caught up with Harry Connick, Jr. after the results were revealed for an explanation. Harry Connick, Jr. Shouldn’t Have Embarrassed Emily Piriz On ‘Idol’

Courtesy of Fox

We get it, Harry — you don’t like when young singers take on mature songs. But when Emily Piriz totally nailed Grace Potter and the Nocturnal’s ‘Ooh La La,’ it was so inappropriate to call her out and embarrass her.

When Emily Piriz, 18, took the stage for Rush Week on American Idol, she completely rocked her version of “Ooh La La,” which yes, is a very sexual song. While this wasn’t the first time judge Harry Connick Jr. disproved of a contestant singing this song, calling her out the way he did was rude and uncalled for.

‘American Idol’ Recap: Harry Connick Jr. Shames Emily Piriz For Sexy Song

Courtesy of FOX

This is it! The Feb. 18 episode of ‘American Idol’ takes us live to its first ever Rush Week where we watch 10 out of 15 girls perform for America’s votes — one of whom was shamed by Harry Connick Jr. for her sexy song choice!

For the special occasion of American Idol‘s very first “Rush Week” and this season’s first live show, Keith Urban wore his finest t-shirt! Because two hours just isn’t enough time, the judges will choose just 10 out of 15 to perform, leaving the other five without even the opportunity to earn America’s vote! Harsh. See below for who got the chance to perform and to see how they fared, and to find out why Harry decided to shame 18-year-old Emily Piriz for her song choice!

‘American Idol’: Neco Starr Deserves To Be In Top 30 Over Ben Briley

Courtesy of Fox (2)

Do you agree that Neco should be saved over Ben? Read our take on the latest ‘Idol’gate, then pick a side and cast your vote!

American Idol revealed this season’s top 30 finalists Feb. 13 — or, at least, it revealed most of the top 30. There’s still one major decision left to be made, and unfortunately, the judges are too indecisive to make it on their own. Neco Starr and Ben Briley, both of whom really impressed us in their initial auditions and during Hollywood Week, are neck and neck, and HollywoodLife.com thinks the final spot should go to Neco!
