Ben Briley: Eliminated ‘Idol’ Singer Says The Judges Were ‘Inconsistent’

Courtesy of FOX

Ben Briley’s elimination on the March 13 episode of ‘American Idol’ was pretty polarizing for viewers — as was the high risk performance of “Bennie and the Jets” that got him the axe. After he was voted off, Ben Briley told HollywoodLife.com that he partly blames the judges for misguiding him, but that at the end of the day he has no regrets about taking the risks he did!

American Idol‘s Ben Briley is sticking to his guns — he took a big risk in singing Elton John‘s “Bennie and the Jets” on the March 12 episode, and it did not pay off. He found himself in the bottom along with Majesty Rose and was voted off with 0.07% of the audience’s votes separating the two. We caught up with him after his elimination, however, and despite holding a slight grudge against Jennifer LopezKeith Urban, and Harry Connick Jr., Ben also told us that he does not regret switching it up from the country songs we had seen him perform up until now.

‘American Idol’ Judges: Stop Being Nice And Start Being Helpful

Courtesy of FOX

I never thought I’d say this about a show launched by Simon Cowell, but the ‘American Idol’ judges need to stop being so nice and start being helpful. Harry Connick Jr. — you, too!

The March 12 episode of American Idol was easily the best showing we’ve seen so far from our finalists — but I thought that the judges were way too soft on some performances that definitely could have used some constructive criticism. For example, as literally thrilling as it was to see that Majesty Rose was going to sing Idina Menzel‘s “Let It Go,” she kind of missed the mark and the judges didn’t call her on it. At the beginning of Idol‘s 13th season, Harry Connick Jr. was one of the most helpful and constructive judges we’ve seen on the show since, well, ever, but he seems to have softened — which is ultimately detrimental not only to the finalists but to the integrity of the show overall.

After last week’s lackluster performances, the Top 11 really brought it this week for the theme “Songs From The Cinema” on the March 12 episode of American Idol. And isn’t it just our fabulous luck — one of our favorite performers, Majesty Rose, sang one of our favorite jams, “Let It Go,” by the Wicked-ly talented Adele Dazeem! Sorry — we mean Idina Menzel. (Has that gotten old yet? Just kidding — we know that it could never get old.) Anyway, read on for our full recap and to find out how Majesty fared!

Harry Connick Jr. Begs Emily Piriz: ‘Don’t Hate Me’ After Idol Elimination

Courtesy of FOX

We were so shocked when Emily Piriz was eliminated on the March 6 episode of ‘American Idol’ — and so soon into the finals! We caught up with Emily after her elimination and she told us that Harry Connick Jr. begged her to not hate him!

Even if you don’t agree that Emily Piriz should have been the next American Idol, you have to agree that it was way too soon for her to go home! Her performance of Jennifer Lopez‘s “Let’s Get Loud” may have been her poorest vocal performance of the season, but there were definitely some less consistent performers that should have gone home before she did. HollywoodLife.com caught up with Emily after her elimination, and she told us that the judges still support her despite not using their save; in fact, Harry Connick Jr. told her, “Don’t hate me!”

‘American Idol’ Candice Glover Says Harry Connick Jr. Is The Best Judge

Courtesy of FOX

Harry Connick Jr. has been receiving a lot of flak for being the ‘mean’ judge on ‘American Idol’ season 13, but we think that he’s been the one doling out the most constructive advice! Season 12 ‘Idol’ winner Candice Glover seemed to agree, telling HollywoodLife.com in an EXCLUSIVE interview that she would love for Harry to judge her!

On the American Idol results show on Feb. 27, Idol season 12 winner Candice Glover made an appearance, singing “Same Kinda Man” off of her recently-released debut album Music Speaks.
