Quvenzhane Wallis sure is busy for a 9-year-old! The Oscar nominee — who is the youngest person to ever be nominated for Best Actress — is officially set to star as little orphan Annie in the film remake adaptation of the hit musical, produced by Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith, due out in late 2014.

“Quvenzhané Wallis is a true star and we believe her portrayal as Annie will make her a true worldwide star,” president of Production for Columbia Pictures Hannah Minghella said in a statement on Feb. 24.

“She is an extraordinary young talent with an amazing range, not only as an actress but as a singer and dancer, and we can’t wait for audiences to further discover her,” she added.

Quvenzhane Replacing Willow Smith As Annie

The title role was originally supposed to be filled by Will and Jada’s daughter Willow Smith, 12, who has opted out of the part — she is reportedly too old to play the young orphan — because the project has been taking longer to get off the ground than originally planned. The movie is due out in late 2014, and directed by Will Gluck, who has directed Easy A and Friends with Benefits.

The young actress will get an extended bedtime when she attends the 2013 Oscar awards on Feb. 24! The young actress made history as the youngest person ever to be nominated for an Oscar, and is up against Jessica Chastain, Jennifer Lawrence, Emmanuelle Riva, and Naomi Watts.

It’s hard to believe Willow Smith, the youngest child to Will Smith and wife Jada Pinkett-Smith, is already 11 years old. And with such a mature sense of style, she looks much older! She joined suave older brother and up-and-coming rapper Jaden Smith, 14, and their parents at the Toronto International Film Festival on Sept. 9.

The Smith family took in the documentary Free Angela & All Political Prisoners, a film about political activist Angela Davis and her imprisonment as a terrorist and conspirator during the 1970s as a member of the Black Panther Party.

The Whip My Hair singer and her brother sported similar outfits, wearing a chic palette of black and gold. Per usual, Willow rocked some edgy accessories, including a spiked leather bag and studded black boots with spiked ankle cuffs.

It seems like only yesterday Jaden stole our hearts appearing alongside his dad in the movie The Pursuit of Happyness. My, how they’ve grown!

Mom Jada Pinkett Smith posted this adorable photo on Twitter of her daughter cuddling up and snoozing on dad Will Smith‘s lap as they traveled on a private plane.

“‘Being a fatherless daughter these are the moments I cherish. Love. J,” Jada Tweeted with the photo.

‘Thank goodness they have a father and I don’t have to raise them alone,” Jada has said about her husband Will, according to the Daily Mail. 

“Having been raised by a single mother I’m very clear on what the difficulties of being raised by a single mother are.”

Will and Jada have another kid together, Jaden, 14, as well as Will’s son Trey, 18, from his previous marriage.

How precious! Despite their fame and fortune, it sure looks like the Smiths are a close and loving family.

With only a keyboard and some casually baggy clothes, the daughter of Will and Jada Pinkett Smith impresses with her vocal chops in her special effects-free shot set in New York City.

She sings: “Days pass, I’m tryin’ to find out who I really am. I’ve been lookin’. People don’t like the way I dress or where I’m at.”

Willow Smith is known for her outrageous fashion sense, and now she’s taken it a step further with this new pic of herself and her fellow pierced friend on Instagram.

In California, Willow would need her parents’ permission to get a piercing. So either Will and Jada Smith were all on board or she just has a really good-looking fake!

If the stud was real, what risks come with a tongue piercing? We asked New York City dentist Dr. Poiman to list the risks involved:

1. It could create chemical trauma in the front of the teeth
2. Tongue infections
3. Because of the ring, it could develop allergies in the mouth
4. Sometimes the ring can cause sensitivity, and make the teeth break

Dr. Poiman also told HollywoodLife.com exclusively that it is more dangerous for younger children to get their tongues pierced because “younger children or teenagers are more prone to trauma since they are not as worried about hygiene.”

He added he would definitely not allow his 11-year-old to get their tongue pierced.

EDIT: No worries for Will and Jada — Willow later admitted the stud was just a prank: “It’s fake… Sorry,” she added to the Instagram photo.
