Brains beat beauty as last week’s winner held off ‘Life As We Know It’ and ‘Secretariat’ for a second week at number one!
It is, once again, a great weekend to be a nerd as The Social Network held off new openers Life As We Know It and Secretariat to claim the top spot at the weekend box office. The film’s $15.9 million pull, as reported by our sister site Deadline Hollywood, brings its total cume. to just under $50 million. Very impressive.
In a surprise upset Blake Lively’s new film bests boyfriend Penn Badgley’s ‘Easy A,’ which had been expected to take the weekend!
It was a Gossip Girl battle at the box office this weekend as offscreen couple Blake Lively and Penn Badgley both had supporting roles in the weekend’s two biggest films — The Town and Easy A. In the end, The Town pulled off a surprise win with $23.6 million due to a cast that included Jon Hamm, Rebecca Hall, Jeremy Renner, and actor and director Ben Affleck. Easy A meanwhile, starring the hysterical, adorable and extremely talented Emma Stone pulled in $18.3 million according to our sister site Deadline Hollywood.
Jen’s latest flick ‘The Switch’ makes less than $10 million this weekend, whereas Angelina’s ‘Salt’ made over $36 million its first weekend! Looks like Angie is pulling ahead in the battle of the box office babes!

It seems like people would rather dream at the movie theater then check out Angelina Jolie as Inception topped Salt at the weekend box office.
