Infamous designer Vivienne Westwood, 71, was pretty brutal in terms of of how she described Michelle Obama‘s personal sense of style. The designer really dissed the First Lady and her fashion choices, saying, “It’s dreadful what she wears,” referring to the 49-year-old.

The designer continued to rant on Michelle’s style in a revealing interview with The New York Times.

“I don’t want to talk about it. Really, I can’t. She’s a very nice looking lady, but it’s a nonstarter regarding clothes that suit her. Jackie Kennedy was a different matter altogether. It just has to suit her and be something that makes a human being more glamorous. That’s what fashion is there for. It’s there to help, not just to make you look more conservative.”

It sounds like the infamous designer doesn’t think Michelle displays full-on glamour, although we couldn’t disagree more! In fact, Michelle dazzled in a show-stopping, custom-made red Jason Wu gown at the Inaugural Ball that really flattered her figure. When she isn’t wearing gorgrous gowns, the First Lady is known for mixing high and low fashion, wearing a slew of American designers and even showing off looks from J. Crew and the Gap — and she loves to rewear!

The designer certainly made a very bold move, but what do you think? Was Vivienne in the wrong for not only bashing, but criticizing Michelle? The interview went on and the rest is now history. She may feel that fashion is not as provoking as it used to be but she is, without a doubt, as provoking as ever!

Kate Middleton just can’t catch a break. First, she had bump pictures taken while she was in a bikini, then British Man Booker prize winner Hilary Mantel said that her only purpose is to provide a royal heir, and now she has been slammed by iconic fashion designer Vivienne Westwood for wearing too many new outfits, because it’s not “good for the environment.”

Vivienne Westwood Gives Kate Middleton Style Advice

Vivienne, 71, was at London Fashion Week for her Autumn/Winter 2013 presentation on Feb. 17, when she was asked to comment on the pregnant 31-year-old’s style.

“I don’t have any advice for her, [although] I think it would be great if she wore the same clothes over and again, because that’s very good for the environment and it would send out a very nice message,” said Vivienne, as reported by Us.

“If you’re going to all that trouble to get an outfit that suits you, then you should keep on wearing it. I mean, you don’t have to have a red outfit one day and then something almost the same in blue the next,” she continued.

Vivienne makes a good point, but sometimes it’s nice to change it up. Unsurprisingly, this is not the first time that Vivienne has been vocal about one of Kate’s style choices.

“It seems to me that her image is ‘ordinary woman,’” she said to The Sunday Times Magazine in 2011. “Therefore, High Street shopper. And I just think she should be an extraordinary woman, wherever she gets her clothes from.”

Vivienne didn’t stop there, as she also criticized Kate’s make-up.

“I think she’s got a problem with eye make-up,” she said. “The sharp line around her eyes make her look hard. Either she should be smudgy or wear none.”

Jeez Vivienne, don’t hold back!

While Christina Hendricks is known for role on Mad Men, (and for her figure!), the star actually got her start as a model. Now that Vivienne Westwood has enlisted the star to show off the eco-friendly, Get A Life palladium jewelry collection, she’s right back at it!

Since palladium is derived from nature, the collection is eco-friendly — and that was something that was very important to the designer. “Get a Life is about how we stop climate change and therefore preserve life for the next generation while at that same time get a better life,” Westwood said. “My focus at the moment is what one person can do. Stop climate change. Save the planet. The acorn is symbolic of the rainforest, its importance and how it is our first duty to save it.”

In the campaign, Christina poses in Vivienne’s frocks, showing off the jewelry and hair accessories — the star is a huge fan of the designer! “As a young girl I would cut out pictures of her dresses from magazines, although I was never able to afford them. Even now I only have one in my closet,” she told the London Mail. “The lovely thing now is that I can borrow them and they fit so well, unlike some designer clothes.”

Here are the stars who definitely let us down. Helena Bonham Carter takes the title as the worst of the worst in her Vivienne Westwood get-up. As if her dress wasn’t bad enough, the wacky star took the look to a whole new level, pairing it with two different color shoes! She claimed her 5 year-old daughter made her do it.

Then did Tilda Swinton reach into the back of her closet and fish out a reject from her Narnia wardrobe – she starred as Jadis, the evil icy White Witch  . Meanwhile, both Jennifer Lopez and Jennifer Love Hewitt looked like they were headed to a wedding chapel, not an awards ceremony! Sure, J. Lo didn’t look entirely terrible but I expect the seasoned vet to know better!

Here at the HollywoodLife.com offices, Sandra Bullock and Scarlett Johansson have both found themselves on the worst dressed list — but I have to be honest with you, I actually liked both the Jenny Packham gown (on Sandra) and the Elie Saab (on Scarlett) — although I would have preferred to see them on other stars!

Then there was Julianne Moore who appeared to be  sporting a red vase on her arm. So who do you think looked totally terrible?

From flowing long dresses, sparkling minis, and winter white frocks, there were so many different looks on the red carpet at the 2010 Hollywood Style Awards with The Palazzo Las Vegas, Klipsch, FRS® Healthy Energy® on Dec. 12. Young starlets Selena Gomez (in a flowing BCBG get-up) and Victoria Justice (in a sequin Vivienne Westwood and Brian Atwood pumps) opted for frocks that were both age appropriate and chic.

Long dresses and gowns were very popular last night, with fashion forward star Kate Bosworth and Glee gal Lea Michele both opting for winter white. Kate turned up in a Jill Sander look from the spring 2011 collection, while Lea smoldered in a strapless maxi dress. Krysten Ritter also opted for a longer look, wearing a floral ethereal Alberta Ferretti from the spring 2011 collection. The star accessorized with Jamie Wolf 18k gold and rose cut diamond 3 Tier Aladdin Flower Earrings and two IPPOLITA 18k gold Mini Lollipop Bangles in smoky quartz.

Katie Cassidy, recipient of the Future Style Icon award, didn’t disappoint in a sexy yet chic Edition by Georges Chakra fall 2010 gown. Also in attendance from the CW was 90210 star Jessica Lowndes. The actress looked gorgeous in a gold Monique Lhuillier gold metallic jacquard ruched bodice halter cocktail dress and Brian Atwood‘s.

Emily Blunt and Camilla Belle were also in attendance — and looking so chic! The super stylish Camilla went for a more refined yet feminine Kimberly Ovitz creation, which was suiting since she presented the designer with the Emerging Designer of the Year award, while Emily embraced the holiday spirit in a black dress with bow detailing by British designer Roksanda Ilincic.
