On Jan. 22 at the Washington Convention Center for a private party for thousands of Obama’s staffers, 49-year-old Michelle Obama came on the stage wearing something out of the ordinary. The sequin style is so in right now, but not quite in the way that Michelle sported the trend. Don’t get me wrong, she still looked stunning, but it was an interesting choice!

For this retro ensemble, she donned a gold sequin tunic over a pair of black flared pants. Unlike her flowing gowns, these looks were very old-fashioned. The tunic that she wore looks like it was swooped right out of a retro look book (or the depths of her closet)! Her black slacks were popular back in the seventies, and not many people dare to wear the flared look anymore. While we’ve seen the style make a slight comeback, we’re sure many women will be enthusiastic to try it now that Michelle showed it off!

It’s crazy that Michelle went from wearing the young and hip designer, Jason Wu, just the night before to wearing this retro ensemble! Hey, she could bring this style back — you never know, but it sure was a bold move by this First Lady.

However, no matter how bold Michelle dresses, there is always someone else who can go out on a limb and take a much bolder risk, and her name is Lady Gaga. Michelle and President Barack Obama introduced this special guest of the night in front of more than 10,000 guests of theirs– everyone from the campaign employees to the White House officials! Oh, what a night! Lady Gaga sported a crazy Versace dress and did a great performance!

Now that’s one popular frock! While Heidi Klum and Jennifer Hudson opted to wear the dress in black, Elizabeth Banks shined in silver — and they all added their individual flair to the edgy ensemble — but who do you think really ruled the red carpet in the style?

We saw Heidi in nothing but Versace the night she hosted the MTV EMA’s in Germany on Nov. 12th. One of the dresses she wore just so happened to be identical to the one Jennifer Hudson wore to WE Day in Toronto back in September. Although they are wearing the same heels, Heidi popped in a different hue by choosing the Versace ‘Metal Heel’ pumps in grey, while Jen kept the look all black.

At the Versace Haute Couture Fashion Show in Paris, the Hunger Games star wore this chain-metal embellished dress in gray which set her apart a little from the other ladies. BUT, she’s also wearing the same ‘Metal Heel’ pumps in gray… just like Heidi.

I guess it’s safe to say, those heels were made for this get-up. Although the actual dress and shoes were identical, each star added their own personal twist.

Lady Gaga has been prancing around Milan, and on Oct. 2 the star stepped out in Gianni Versace‘s iconic “safety pin dress.” But unlike the unique wardrobe choices she usually makes, this exact dress was seen on Elizabeth Hurley almost two decades ago, at the premiere of Four Weddings and a Funeral back in ’94.

This dress just may be one of Versace’s most famous creations — and the high-slit screams sexy! When Liz wore the frock, she smoothed out the edgy ensemble with simple black sling-back heels and her classic glamour. Lady Gaga, on the other hand, opted to change up the look by wearing sky high-platform boots to run with the punk-inspired style. Both chose to accessorize with a thick bangle and bold earrings.

Gaga might have recycled the dress, but she definitely added her own vibe to the look.

The fashion guru is featured in this month’s Vogue, showcasing a few looks from the collection which she says captures her late brother’s ‘signature style’ .

The line is loaded with dresses — from leather shifts to silk minis, bright neon colors, studded details and floral prints, cropped jackets, shoes and tons of accessories, the collection totally emulates Versace’s iconic eighties style. In her interview, Dontella described the collection as ‘Versace icons’ and said it would be comprised of the label’s greatest hits.

Not only will the collection include clothes, shoes and accessories that are to die for, but Donatella’s even offering Versace style home-goods that will have the same prints and designs as the clothes. Can you say epic?

Donatella Versace is quite busy these days! After her men’s show in Milan on Jun. 20, the news of her latest gig broke — and we couldn’t be more excited! H&M has tapped Versace as it’s latest guest designer.

WWD describes the collection as, “a look back to the Italian brand’s vibrant heritage,” and it will be sold in 300 H&M stores, starting from Nov. 17, and will feature fashion items for men and women, along with items for the home.

That won’t be the only collection the brand rolls out — Versace has also designed a pre-spring collection that will be sold exclusively online and in select countries from Jan. 19.
