The boys of One Direction may some of the biggest pop stars in the world, with hordes of adoring fans, but there are a few people we can cross off the list of fans: The men of Van Halen. Wolfgang Van Halen, bassist of the band and son of legendary Eddie Van Halen, took to Twitter to share just how much he dislikes our favorite boys!

On Tuesday, Oct. 16, Wolfgang tweeted about a run-in he and his bandmates had with 1D in a hotel in Birmingham, England, accusing the boys of insulting him! “Fun fact: Was just insulted by that s**tty boy band #OneDirection in the lobby of our hotel this morning! Greetings Birmingham!”

Though he never gave the specifics of the supposed insult, he followed up with “No joke. That ACTUALLY happened. That group of kids in #OneDirection were dickheads to @IIEROCKII @GWDrums and i.” Then, he taunted them, saying, “They must call themselves that because all of their hair points #OneDirection.”

Eddie Van Halen is recovering from an emergency surgery for a severe bout of diverticulitis — small, bulging pouches formed on the wall of the intestine that cause severe pain when they become inflamed or infected — according to a special announcement on Van Halen’s website.

The announcement says that the 57-year-old rocker is expected to make a full recovery. “No further surgeries are needed and a full recovery is expected within 4 -6 months,” the announcement reads.

Eddie’s surgery has forced the band’s fall Japan tour to be postponed. “Van Halen’s scheduled November 2012 tour of Japan is currently being rescheduled and the band looks forward to seeing and playing for their fans in 2013,” the band writes in their announcement.

The band was due to perform three dates in Japan, with shows scheduled in Osaka on November 20 and 22 and in Tokyo on November 27.

Van Halen Tour Dates Cancelled

Van Halen had already cut their touring short earlier this year, which Eddie explained in an interview with USA Today in June as being due to touring before the band was really ready.

“We bit off more than we could chew. This record [the previously released A Different Kind Of Truth] took a lot out of us. And we went on tour earlier than we wanted to so we could play Madison Square Garden (in March, before a renovation), and that threw the schedule out of whack…a lot of the canceled dates were in cities we already played. So in November, we’ll hit Japan, and in the new year, we’ll possibly do something special, but I can’t talk about it.”

And as an added bonus, the iconic Kool & The Gang opens for Van Halen. You’ll be very surprised how that all works out. There is often a hesitation in the crowd that wants Van Halen to hit the stage but once Kool & The Gang complete their set you are happy you joined the ride. So don’t be late LA!

In support of Van Halen’s new album, “A Different Kind Of Truth” the boys got together to completely teach everyone how to rock. From classic hits like ‘Jump’, ‘I’ll Wait’ and ‘Girl Gone Bad’ to new classics like ‘Tattoo’ and ‘That’s The Trouble With Never’ it was very obvious that the absence hasn’t hurt them at all.

And it was apparent the band was having a great time at the Mohegan Sun Arena as well carrying on and jamming, joking and dancing the night away.

During a Feb. 1st secret show at Henson Studios in Hollywood something happened that I never thought would happen again in my life. David Lee Roth fronting a concert with the rest of the legendary members of Van Halen. The show completely blew my mind as Eddie, Alex and bassist Wolfgang Van Halen sounded spectacular performing with Roth on older classics like “Jump” and newer gems like “Tattoo”. If what was seen in their hour plus surprise set was a view of things to come then their upcoming tour might go down as the greatest tour of all time!

Van Halen has easily provided rock hits that have transcended the test of time and it looks like there is no end in sight. As easily as people enjoy such classics as “Panama” and “Hot For Teacher” among their plethora of other hits their new album reinvents rock & roll and gives it a shot of adrenaline that is well needed in the genre. Songs like “The Trouble With Never”, “She’s The Woman” and “China Town” are master works from a band that has been gone for way too long but thankfully are back and making it worth it a million times over!

Infamously known for his awesome guitar skills, Eddie Van Halen‘s musical talents are showcased in Van Halen songs and tracks like Michael Jackson‘s “Beat It.” Now, he is reuniting with his original frontman David Lee Roth and making a new album with his drummer and brother Alex Van Halen and bassist and son with ex-wife Valerie Bertinelli, Wolfgang, 19. He is currently married to long time love Janie Liszewski. 

“The way Wolfgang plays bass is very similar to the way I play guitar,” Eddie says about his son and band mate in a joint interview with Guitar World. ” It’s very unorthodox. His style is interesting. I couldn’t ask for more. Not only has he proven himself but he also takes this stuff further.” Wolfgang adds, “It’s like a genetic metronome. When we end songs, we don’t even look at each other. We all feel it. It’s good music and I love playing it.” Wow, it’s awesome to see that the family talent lives on in Wolfgang and that he gets to play with his dad everyday.
