Not since the golden age of boy bands in the mid-’90s has a group emerged to convince me that the classic formula can still work — that is, until One Direction entered the picture. The British-Irish fivesome’s debut album, Up All Night, is already burning up the U.S. charts, and is it any wonder why?

With catchy melodies, thoughtful lyrics, and more energy than a thousand Justin Bieber fans in a tiny box, Up All Night feels like summer and Christmas and my birthday all rolled into one. In short, it just makes us happy.

It goes without saying that “What Makes You Beautiful” is one of the best songs on the album — and we’re pretty sure we can find 70 million+ YouTube users who would agree with that — but it’s far from the only sure-fire hit. We’re obsessed with “Stole My Heart,” “Moments,” and “One Thing,” all of which make us want to ditch our desks for a dance floor.

We also love “I Want,” which is a funky departure from the boys’ typical electronic flare. It proves the members of One Direction — Liam Payne, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, Harry Styles and Zayn Malik — aren’t afraid to take risks, and that’s always great.

More than anything, we actually believe what One Direction is selling. Whether they wrote their music or not, we feel like they have a really genuine quality about them, and we dig that. We’re not sure, geographically speaking, where this “one direction” leads, but we’re more than happy to be along for the ride.

I’m not ashamed to admit that I have been anticipating the premiere of Up All Night all summer long. And after watching the first episode last night, I know why! New mom Christina Applegate was as hilarious as ever and with Will Arnett as her daddy sidekick, this show is sure to the season’s best new sitcom! What did you think about the premiere?

Last night, we met TV producer, Reagan (Applegate), who after having a baby, heads back to work for an egotistical talk show host Ava (Maya Rudolph) and leaves her husband Chris (Will Arnett) at home and in charge of baby duty!

The pilot focused on Reagan’s return to work as producer of an Oprah-esque show and former attorney Chris’ new job as a stay-at-home dad. The couple is adjusting to ditching martinis and late nights out for bottles and dirty diapers all while celebrating their wedding anniversary.

With hilarious one-liners and perfect improv, Up All Night is ridiculous, but in the best way possible. I can’t wait to make it my new Wednesday night ritual. (After I DVR Survivor of course.)

Christina Applegate, Will Arnett, Maya Rudolph and Nick Cannon ALL have babies at home! So who better than them to come up with hilarious narratives for their sure-to-be hit show about parenting?

With the new Fall season here, TV is BACK ! And one of the most-anticipated upcoming sitcoms, Up All Night, stars four of our favorite celebrity parents — Christina Applegate, Will Arnett, Maya Rudolph and Nick Cannon! And Christina Applegate lets us in on a little cast secret — they help write the scripts!

The show, which premieres on NBC at 10pm on Sept.14, features Applegate as a TV producer, Reagan, who after having a baby, heads back to work for an egotistical talk show host Ava (Maya Rudolph) and leaves her husband Chris (Will Arnett) at home and in charge of baby duty!

“Everyone in the cast has a baby at home,” Applegate tells Us Weekly. “We all come in in the morning with dark circles under our eyes.”

Applegate and her fiance Martyn LeNoble welcomed daughter Sadie in February, Arnett and his wife Amy Poehler welcomed son Abel last August, Maya Rudolph gave birth to son Jack in July and Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey welcomed twins Monroe and Moroccan in April.

“We all have kids, so we’re setting up a day-care common area on set where the kids will all be supervised and play together,” Applegate adds. “Amy [Poehler] works on the lot too.” How funny is this?

And aside from day-care and play pens, Applegate says the cast works to help the writers come up with real and believable stories for the show. For example:

“We’re [Applegate and LeNoble] going through something at home now where we don’t know what to call the baby’s stuff [private parts!]” Applegate reveals. “So that’s going to be an upcoming story line.” Hilarious!

And although it has been tough for Applegate, 39, to adjust to being a working mother, she knows that this show show is worth the pain! “I wanted to take a year off to be a mommy, but when I saw the script, I thought it was so honest and refreshing,” she says. “It’s going to be difficult — I saw a call sheet, and I know I will miss bedtime and bath time — but I think it will be worth it in the end.”

Are you ready to see new mommy Christina back on network TV?

Motherhood won’t keep Christina Applegate off camera. It has been confirmed by Access Hollywood that the actress is set to appear in the new comedy series Up All Night, which co-stars new dad Will Arnett and mom-to-be Maya Rudolph! It’s a celebrity parent comedy masterpiece! 

“I don’t think I was ready at the time, but I will be ready,” Christina, 39, explains, referring to finally being ready to get back on a consistent film schedule after welcoming daughter Sadie in February.

Christina will play the role of Reagan, a public relations executive married to Chris, a stay at home husband, played by Will Arnett. Maya Rudolph of Saturday Night Live will play Ava, Reagan’s boss.

“Everybody has different reasons for being up all night,” former Arrested Development Will stated. Coincidentally, all three stars are new parents or expecting. Rudolph is pregnant with her third child and Arnett just welcomed his second son, Abel James, 9 months.

“It’s excellent… Amazing,” Christina raved about parenting. “We don’t have anybody with helping, which we will soon.”

This is Christina’s first network comedy gig since Samantha Who, which was cancelled in 2009. Up All Night will air on NBC during the 2011-2012 season.
