Demi Lovato Is Surprised Critics Loved 'Unbroken!'

Demi Lovato says she never expected so much success from her latest album, ‘Unbroken!’ Did YOU?

Demi Lovato‘s third studio album, Unbroken, dropped and immediately went high on the Billboard Charts, complete with the critics’ seal of approval. Although this doesn’t shock us in the slightest, Demi told MTV she didn’t expect such a positive reception!

“I was really surprised that the critics loved it,” the 19-year-old singer said. “I was very excited about it. I’m really thankful that they do because critics can be hard. Anytime you get a good review from them, I’m really thankful.”

In the interview, Demi also dishes about her next single, “Who’s that Boy,” what it was like working with DEV and her favorite song on the album.

So many guys in Hollywood are rude to their ex-girlfriends, but it warms our heart that Joe is such a nice and supportive guy!

Joe Jonas and Demi Lovato may have broken up, but Joe proves he’s the kindest ex-boyfriend in Hollywood by supporting Demi and offering kind words for her in the press!

Joe, 22, said he couldn’t wait to hear Demi, 19, on her new album Unbroken, PEOPLE reports.

“I downloaded Demi Lovato’s album today,” he said. “I’m interested in hearing the music she’s come up with and want to support a friend. I’m happy she’s doing well.”

Demi Lovato explains what drew her toward singing the song ‘Mistake’ on her new album, ‘Unbroken’ — and it sounds an awful lot like she’s telling Joe Jonas he was stupid to dump her!

Demi Lovato has alluded to her breakup with Joe Jonas as being the catalyst to her emotional and physical breakdown — and now in her song “Mistake” on Unbroken she’s standing up for herself and telling the 21-year-old Jo bro he screwed up.

“When I first heard ‘Mistake,’ it was the lyrics that first caught my attention,” Demi explains on the music application Spotify in a section called “About Unbroken.” “I was really intrigued by the fact that the girl had just been broken up with and it was the other person’s fault and it was the other person’s greatest mistake. I thought that was really interesting. It was a different take on a breakup.”

She adds, “Rather than sit around feeling heart broken, you can listen to it and feel almost empowered thinking, ‘I’m not going to let this get me down. It was HIS greatest mistake.’ So I love the message of the song and I hope you do too!”

Demi and Joe were best friends for years before they finally dated in the beginning of 2010. However, things didn’t work out between the two of them and it’s been widely reported Joe’s dad was the one who broke off the relationship with Demi. Almost immediately after, Joe began dating Ashley Greene – and even brought her on his tour WITH Demi.

What a comeback — Lovatics have already made the record a smash hours after its release!

Demi Lovato has made a huge return to the music world — her new album Unbroken immediately shot to the top of the charts and is getting so much love from fans!

Demi, 19, shot to #1 on iTunes on the Sept. 20 release date, and Twitter fans are already loving the new record!

Fan Kevin Narine took to Twitter to celebrate the album, writing, “Unbroken is by far the best album I’ve heard all year. Yes, I’m aware that Born This Way was released this year.”

Celebrity fan Sean Kingston wrote, “Everybody Go pick up THE BEAUTIFUL @ddlovato album now!!!! On iTUNES “UNBROKEN” #SWAGG.”

Perhaps the most popular sentiment was expressed by fellow singer Rebecca Black, who wrote, “listening to @ddlovato’s new album #UNBROKEN!! i’m loving it. sounds amazing. <3 (:”

I’m here, and I’m unbroken.”

“‘Skyscraper’ symbolized the journey I was on,” Demi revealed. “I was broken and I went through so much. I overcame and it all and now I’m standing here today. Not to sound cheesy, but like a skyscraper, I’m standing tall and I’m standing confident — happy, healthy and proud.”

'Unbroken' Review: Demi Lovato Puts A Tough Year Behind Her, Releases A Mature & Fun Album! Great Listen!

With a variety of pop and R&B songs and introspective ballads, Demi Lovato’s highly-anticipated album, ‘Unbroken,’ completely lives up to the hype!

Demi Lovato has officially grown up. Throughout the last year, we’ve watched the 19-year-old performer struggle with pressures of being a child star and the transition from Disneyland to adulthood, but now she’s finally made it through the thick of it — and her album Unbroken if proof of her success. Chock full of solid tracks ranging from emotional ballads (ala “Skyscraper”) to fun pop songs, like her next single and collaboration with Dev on “Who’s That Boy,” Demi’s range of talent is brilliantly executed on her third studio album, which drops Sept. 20.

The 15 track album begins with upbeat pop songs, including her collaboration with Missy Elliott and Timbaland on “All Night Long,” and gradually becomes more serious and emotional with her single “Skyscraper,” and the song about her less than perfect relationship with her dad, “For the Love of a Daughter.”

Each song is so unique and varied, it’s hard to describe the entire album with one theme. However, here are my favorite tracks:

Best track before a night out: “All Night Long” This upbeat pop number will get you in the mood to go out and have a wild night!

Most emotional track: “Skyscraper” As you’ve already heard, Demi was so emotional while she recorded this ballad, her voice cracked. Even with all the other songs on the album, “Skyscraper” is the rawest.

Best vocal performance: “Lightweight” Christina Aguilera doesn’t have anything on Demi! She WAILS on this track and it’s incredible. She’s got the pipes to back up her fame.

Favorite track to play on repeat: “Who’s That Boy” I’m a Dev fan, so it’s no wonder I love this song. Demi and Dev’s sounds work brilliantly with each other and I can imagine this song being remixed and played in clubs. Next to “Lightweight” and “Skyscraper,” “Who’s That Boy” is easily my favorite song on Unbroken.

If you’re a fan of R&B and pop, you’re bound to enjoy Demi’s latest work. The entire album is solid.

Can’t wait to hear Demi Lovato’s much-anticipated album, ‘Unbroken,’ when it drops Sept. 20? Listen to clips of all the track list songs!

Demi Lovato‘s third studio album with Hollywood Records, Unbroken, drops in less than a week on Sept. 20, but for those of you who are chomping at the bit to hear the 19-year-old singer’s latest work, you can now preview clips from the entire record!

CD Universe has posted previews of each track on its website, which only makes us that much more excited for the whole thing. Although there are upbeat, pop songs like “All Night Long,” with Missy Elliott and Timbaland and “Who’s That Boy” with Dev, Demi is really putting herself into the R&B genre with music that features her strong vocals and runs.

Although her first single from the album, “Skyscraper,” is hard-hitting and emotional, the entire album isn’t heavy at all. In fact, the majority of the tracks are upbeat and positive, even if the song titles like “Fix a Heart,” “Mistake” and “Give Your Heart a Break” lead you to believe otherwise.
