I have to admit, I didn’t know much about Housing Works Design on a Dime before I went behind the scenes yesterday with lifestyle guru Derek Warburton, but wow, was I in for a big surprise. The event at Metropolitan Pavilion, which could easily be NYC’s best kept secret, draws hundreds of serious shoppers on the opening night, (May 6), at the promise of scooping up gorgeous interior goods (some are even one-of-a-kind!) at an unbelievable 70% off from the likes of Ty Pennington, Nathan Thomas, Jaclyn Smith, Dean & Deluca, and Calypso, to name a few! Walking around, I couldn’t get over the gorgeous “rooms” each designer had crafted for the big day– I wanted to take everything home with me! The best part is, all of the proceeds go to build housing for formerly homeless adults living with HIV/AIDS. The housing, which is located in Brooklyn, is also eco-friendly.

On my behind the scenes sneak peek, Derek showed me around his room and then we popped over to Ty Pennington’s before ending our tour with Nathan Thomas from Top Design. If you can’t make it to opening night, be sure to check in on Friday and Saturday, although judging by the high-end pieces at unheard of prices, I recommend getting there ASAP!
