Bristol Palin has displayed her wildly controversial parenting skills — or lack thereof – on her reality TV show, Bristol Palin: Life’s a Tripp. But Tripp‘s father, Levi Johnston, is not amused.

On the Lifetime show, Tripp is shown cursing, talking back to adults, and overall throwing temper tantrums with little parental interference. Bristol even admitted on film, “I’m doing a terrible job disciplining Tripp.”

So Levi decided to take matters into his own hands.

The 22-year-old visited a courthouse in Wasilla, Alaska to get all the necessary paperwork to start filing for full custody, TMZ is reporting.

He has been watching the show and is “disgusted” with Tripp’s language and behavior, he told TMZ. He also said Tripp is on a ”downward spiral” and getting “no real parenting.”

Levi plans to file for full custody as soon as possible.

Dr. Drew sits down with teen mom and daughter of Sarah Palin, Bristol Palin, for an exclusive interview tonight at 9pm on HLN, and he’s not afraid to get serious! In the preview clip, Dr. Drew blatantly tells Bristol, who was drunk the night she lost her virginity to Levi Johnston and conceived her now 2-year-old son Tripp: “In California that would be a rape, is it the same in Alaska?” Whoa!

“You know, I don’t know the cause on it, but um, I would never accuse somebody of rape or anything like that,” Bristol, 21, responds. “It was consensual because I stayed with him years on end after that.”

“It was a night that I look back on with the adult eyes I have now and I just realize, that was so stupid,” Bristol tells Dr. Drew, adding that drinking alcohol didn’t help the situation either.

If the cover of his new memoir is any indication, Levi won’t be pulling any punches!

Levi Johnston shocked the world when he announced he’d be writing a tell-all book about his baby mama Bristol Palin and her family — but we never knew he would take such a shot at his baby Tripp‘s grandmother Sarah!

Levi, 21, has written Deer in the Headlights: My Life in Sarah Palin’s Crosshairs, set to be released on Sept. 27. According to Amazon, the book should be incendiary: “Levi Johnston sets out to clear his name, shed light on the Palins, and take us all up to Wasilla to see what it is like to grow up in Alaska.” And the scandalous cover is SUPER ridiculous.

20-year-old Bristol Palin candidly speaks out about teen motherhood, telling Us Magazine, “There a lot of things that I love about being a mom, but you know what? Being a teen mom is not ideal.” We completely understand that, but come on, Bristol, look at what you have now, you’re beautiful son Tripp!

“…I wish that I could have had Tripp when I was in a married relationship,” adds Bristol, who is no longer in a relationship with Tripp’s father, 21-year-old Levi Johnston.

The daughter of Sarah Palin is a staunch supporter of abstinence and teen pregnancy prevention and plans on teaching Tripp the morals she preaches. “I’m going to let Tripp know how hard it was for me to be a teen parent and how not ideal it is,” she admts. “I know that he’ll learn.”

As for the toddler, he is getting into everything! “He’s talking and running around,” Bristol says. “Right now he’s taking skating lessons, so that’s something fun that we get to go to. I love everything about him!”

Levi Johnston is not an absentee dad and he’s fighting to get his son back, his attorney, Rex Butler, tells HollyBaby.com exclusively.

There are two sides to every story, and the one Levi Johnston‘s attorney is presenting in response to Bristol Palin‘s claims Levi is an absentee father is very different from what Bristol is saying! “[Bristol] is trying to give a smokescreen that Levi does not want to see his son,” Levi’s attorney, Rex Butler tells HollyBaby.com exclusively. “He has been more than gracious in requesting to see his son, and he has said on numerous occasions ‘I want to see him’, and she will say ‘I am out of town’.”

Why it’s a bad idea for Bristol to ask Levi to give up his parental rights

Rex went on to say, “[Levi] usually doesn’t know where Tripp is when she takes him out of town.”

As for 20-year-old Bristol’s recent move to Maricopa, AZ., which is a suburb of Phoenix, Levi found out when the rest of the world did. “She never officially asked Levi if it was OK to go ahead and move to Arizona,” Rex says.

According to family lawyer Vikki Ziegler, Bristol broke the law by making the move without Levi’s approval. “Whenever you have joint custody you need a court order or parent consent—otherwise it’s a violation of the law,” she tells HollyBaby.com.

Bristol dropped the bombshell that she wanted Levi to give up his parental rights during an appearance on KWHL’s The Bob & Mark Show last Friday (Jan. 21). “It’s unfortunate for Tripp,” she says, adding that when she asked Levi to sign over his parental rights, he has refused the offer. “Have I asked him to change Tripp’s last name? Yeah of course,” Bristol said.“I’ve asked him to do that many times—just sign over your (parental) rights. He just doesn’t want to sign them over because it looks bad on paper.”

Is Tripp becoming a Palin?

It is looking like this is going to be a long court case, too as Levi, 20, is in no way willing to sign over his parental rights to their 2-year-old son! “There will be no consideration whatsoever to sign over parental rights,” Rex explains. “She has done everything she can to disrupt him seeing his son and these matters will be resolved in a normal way, in the courts.”

But experts warn that Bristol’s decisions now will have serious and lasting affects on Tripp. “It’s bad for a child to not have a relationship with the father,” says marriage, family and child therapist Dr. Jenn Berman. “Kids who spend time bonding with their dads do better with cognitive development and IQ tests. That’s a fact.”

Bristol Palin needs to rethink her plans to completely remove Levi Johnston from their son Tripp’s life. Experts say she’s damaging the boy! Exclusive!

Bristol Palin is trying to completely change her 2-year-old son, Tripp Johnston‘s life. She’s wants to legally switch her little boy’s last name to ‘Palin’ and she moved him thousands of miles away from his father, Levi Johnston—all the way from Alaska to Arizona! Levi is so opposed to what Bristol is doing and he’s also refusing to accept her request that he give up his parental rights to the adorable little boy, which could mean that he never gets to see him again! But can he really fight the Palins with all their fame and money?

“She is trying to bump him out of the situation,” says family lawyer Vikki Ziegler, who feels that this is a case of Bristol not needing Levi’s money and just hoping that he’ll go away so that she can live her own life as she sees fit. “There is a difference between giving sole custody and relinquishing parental rights. With sole custody, you still have rights to see the child,” she explains, adding that it’s common for the mother to have sole custody when the child is out of wedlock, as is the case with Bristol, 20, and Levi.

If Levi, 20, relinquishes all parental rights, he will no longer have to pay any child support but he could also run the risk of never getting to see his son ever again, according to Ziegler. This is especially worrisome since Bristol just moved their baby to Arizona from Alaska without his permission.

Levi’s only seen Tripp four times since November

But experts warn that Bristol’s decisions now will have serious and lasting affects on Tripp.”The problem is not the legal ramifications of this, the problem is Levi not being around his son. It’s bad for a child to not have a relationship with the father,” Marriage ,Family and Child Therapist Dr. Jenn Berman, tells HollyBaby.com. “Kids who spend time bonding with their dads do better with cognitive development and IQ tests. That’s a fact.”

Dr. Berman feels that because Levi has never been known to be violent or dangerous, there’s no real reason to stop him from spending time with his son, even though she admits that the fact that he hasn’t made much time for the boy does work against him. “I understand why Bristol would think it’s important to remove Levi from their boy’s life now — only spending a few hours with him i the past few months isn’t terribly promising about his commitment to his family — but she really shouldn’t.”

Bristol wants to change her baby’s name

“If she succeeds in blocking Levi from seeing his child, then when he’s older he’ll surely be filled with resentment toward her,” psychotherapist Jonathan Alpert says. “If Levi wants to be an active dad and she prevents that, it would be cruel,” adds Dr. Berman, author SuperBaby: 12 Ways to Give Your Child a Head Start in the First 3 Years.

Both experts agree that the best thing that Levi and Brisol can do for the sake of their son is make sure to put his needs first. “They shouldn’t be using their child as a pawn,” says Alpert.  “Bristol should do all that she can to help foster Tripp’s relationship with his father,” says Dr. Berman.

Levi Johnston Has Only Seen Son, Tripp, Three Times Since ‘DWTS’ Ended In November

Bristol Palin says he’s only spent about 12 hours with their son in the past few months! Shame on you, Levi!

Poor Tripp Johnston! Although his mom Bristol Palin is 100 percent devoted to the 2-year-old, it sounds like his father Levi Johnston, 20, is the exact opposite. “Since Dancing With the Stars he’s seen him at most three times,” Bristol says on the Bob & Mark radio show. And when Levi does have the boy, it’s not like he devotes an entire day to bonding with him — Bristol says he only takes him for about four hours. Levi, get your act together! This is your son, not some part-time friend. You need to step it up and be a father.

Bristol changing Tripp’s last name from Johnston to Palin?

“It’s unfortunate for Tripp,” explains Bristol, 20, who admits to asking Levi to sign over his parental rights, but he has refused the offer. “Have I asked him to change Tripp’s last name? Now, Bristol is enjoying her life in Arizona and has confirmed she’s seeing a new man whose name she has yet to reveal. She’s also considering exploring an on-air radio job now that she has settled down “I’m thrilled,” she says about her new life. Hopefully Levi will realize how stupid he is being, but at least Tripp is living a full and wonderful like with Bristol.
