Baby Mateo was born Tuesday afternoon (March 22) in New York City!

Get ready to make some baby food, chef! Tom Colicchio‘s wife Lori Silverbush, 41, gave birth to a 7lb. 9oz. baby boy named Mateo Lev on Tuesday at 12:11 p.m. in New York City. The Top Chef star’s rep tells People that both baby and mom are doing well! Congratulations!

This is Tom’s third son and his second with Lori — they have a 19-month-old son named Luka. Tom, 48, also has a 17-year-old son named Dante, from a previous relationship.

And no hospital food for the Colicchios. The chef de cuisine at Craft, James Tracey, is sending dinner over from the restaurant — lucky! Congrats on the new baby!

Needing 51 votes to be repealed, the Senate votes 65 to 31 to end the practice after an almost 20 year struggle!

After 17 years of highly heated debate, the Senate voted today to repeal “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell,” a bill prohibiting openly gay Americans from serving in the military. The bill will now be passed on to President Obama to be signed into law and will take effect after some initial procedural steps are taken. See what some celebs had to say!

The celebrity chef believes kids aren’t as picky as you’d think and says that it’s up to parents to teach their children to be adventurous eaters.

None of that tired PB&J for Tom Colicchio‘s kids! The brand new daddy and head judge on Top Chef plans to treat his 10-month-old son, Luka, to exotic dishes as soon as possible. ”I think it’s a good idea to open them up to new flavors, new foods and different ethnic cuisines,” he tells Babble.com. “I think a lot of the problem is that kids eat like their parents and their parents aren’t trying. I remember giving my kid oysters and saying, ‘Here, try it. It’s not going to bother you.’”

The Bravo TV star has put his beliefs into action with his 16-year-old son, Dante, who’s grown up to be a huge foodie. Tom continues to encourage him to try new foods. “He likes going out to dinner — he gets that from both his mom and me. We have him try everything. If he doesn’t like it, that’s fine, but he can’t not eat it just because it’s green,” he says.

Tom’s newest restaurant, Colicchio & Sons, isn’t for the timid eater. The choices range from sweetbreads to pork belly and duck ham. Not exactly the mac and cheese most kids love, but his offerings are exactly the kinds of foods Tom thinks children should try.

The 48-year-old blames picky kids on picky parents and is against the idea of any kid ordering off a bland children’s menu. “I think they’re better off ordering appetizers,” he says. “Some kids are picky eaters but I think a lot of it has to do with parents saying, ‘Oh, you won’t like that. You don’t want to eat that.’ Why? You don’t know what they like until they try it.”

Little Luka isn’t ready for solid foods just yet, but Tom and his wife, Lori Silverbush, have already taken him out to eat. “I feel like before your baby turns 1 you can take them pretty much anywhere.”

That’s not to say the new dad would tolerate Luka crying in a restaurant. It’s one of his pet peeves. “My feeling is if the baby is loud and screaming, you’ve gotta leave. If something’s going on and you can’t get him quiet, just pick him and leave. Say, ‘Sorry, I gotta go.’”

Tell us: What’s the most exotic food that your kids will eat?

In an emotional finale, Michael Voltaggio edged out brother Bryan Voltaggio and Atlanta-native Kevin Gillespie to take home the $125,000 grand prize.

At Cyrus, the two-star Michelin restaurant in Napa, California, the three remaining contestants, Kevin Gillespie and Michael and Bryan Voltaggio battled it out in front of judges Tom Colicchio, Padma Lakshmi, Gail Simmons, and Toby Young.

Michael won by creating the favorite dish of the night, made from Pacific rockfish, Dungeness crab, kabocha squash, Meyer lemon, matsutake mushrooms and anise hyssop. It was the fitting end to a dramatic season, with some of the best cooking in all seasons of Top Chef.

As usual, there were a few twists: early contest losers came back to play sous chefs for the finalists, plus surprise guest judges: their moms!

The mothers were supportive and clearly proud of their sons. “Kevin’s never made me anything I didn’t like,” said Mrs. Gillespie, and Mrs. Voltaggio had to plead the 5th during dinner when asked to choose between her sons’ dishes. We also saw adorable baby pictures and discovered that Michael was a picky eater as a kid: Who knew!

Up until the last moments of the show, predicting a winner was impossible. All of the chefs had their high and low moments in the meal: Kevin’s fried chicken skin and squash killed it, but the self-professed King of Pork let down the judges with his pork belly. Judges raved about Bryan’s venison, but thought his other dishes were under-seasoned. And Michael made winning squab and rockfish, but overcooked his soufflé.

Fan-favorite Kevin was the first to go—it just wasn’t his night. In the end it was brother against brother, and the judges picked apart the differences between the pair: Both possess incredible technique and inventiveness, but Bryan is thoughtful and sophisticated while Michael is more brash and outspoken. The decision was clearly difficult and emotional—tears flowed when the winner was announced.

Congrats to Michael, and to all the cheftestants! Can’t wait for the next season!
