Tipper Gore has known about Portland masseuse Molly Hagerty’s claims that Al Gore demanded sexual favors from her during a 2006 massage since her ex husband found out about them himself.

In an exclusive interview with People magazine a friend of Tipper’s said that Tipper “doesn’t believe any of the allegations that this woman [Hagerty] is making and they played no role whatsoever in their decision to separate.”

Added the friend, “Both Al and Tipper are baffled by the allegations across the board, frustrated to see his name dragged through the mud….She so wants a private life. But she feels strongly that people know she doesn’t believe anything this woman is saying. She remains committed to Al and his reputation.”

Further trashing speculation that the Gore’s separation has been contentious, the friend pointed out that Al and Tipper were together on a weeklong family vacation last month, just two weeks after announcing their split.

“They were on a lake in Tennessee, with all the kids and grandkids. Doing lake stuff – waterskiing, cooking out,” says the friend close to the Gores. “They continue to be a tight family. That’s not going to change.”

Al Gore and wife Tipper have been all over the news since they announced their separation June 1 after 40 years of marriage. And they’re making headlines again, but this time it isn’t because of Al’s alleged affair with Larry David‘s ex-wife, Laurie, nor is it because of the massage therapist who claims Bill Clinton‘s former vice president sexually assaulted her. The Gores’ latest shocker is that they won’t be attending Bill’s daughter Chelsea Clinton‘s wedding!

But the real question is: Were the Gores invited, or not? Chelsea’s wedding to investment banker Marc Mezvinsky is said to be a very intimate, a 400-person gathering in a mansion in Rhineback, N.Y. You’d think the Gores would have been invited, but maybe Chelsea didn’t want them to steal the spotlight on her big day. Or maybe they WILL be going and they’re just trying to throw off the press.

The masseuse who accused former Vice President Al Gore of sexual misconduct in 2006 has come forward, allowing the National Enquirer to identify her in a cover story. Her name is Molly Hagerty and she is 54 years old.

Hagerty, a licensed massage therapist, accused Al Gore of trying to force himself her during a massage in 2006, but the accusations did not become public until last week. She has remained anonymous until now. “Al Gore is a pervert and sexual predator. He’s not what people think he is. He’s a sick man,” she told the Enquirer. Just last week Hagerty had demanded $1 million from the magazine to reveal her story.

According to the police report filed four years ago, Hagerty said she was hired by Gore for a massage that transformed into the politician turned environmental guru trying to grope her and cajole her into sex.

Soon after the alleged incident, Hagerty called her close friend Greg Boatman who is also interviewed by the magazine to verify her story.

“She called me on the phone October 23, 2006. I remember the date because that’s my birthday,” Boatman told the Enquirer. “She was excited about the massage she had scheduled for that evening — she said it was with former Vice President Al Gore. I was shocked when she called back and woke me around 4 a.m. that same night. When I picked up, she was in tears. She told me she was assaulted… Mr. Gore groped her and threw her down on the bed.”

Gore, who recently separated from his wife Tipper after 40 years of marriage, has not commented on the allegations.

The Portland masseuse who claims former Vice President Al Gore groped and kissed her in a hotel room in 2006 asked the National Enquirer for $1 million to tell her story.

The magazine’s executive editor Barry Levine said that they turned down her offer and did not pay her or anyone else for the story, but if she has juicy details to share, you can bet someone will find a way to cough up the dough to hear her tale.

Earlier this week The Enquirer obtained  the woman’s detailed Jan. 8, 2009, statement to a Portland sexual assault investigator. The massage therapist said she was called to Portland’s Hotel Lucia at around 10:30 p.m. on Oct. 24, 2006, to massage Al, now 62, who was registered under the name “Mr. Stone.” After arriving at his suite, she claims he pushed her hand toward his groin, fondled her butt and breasts and tongue-kissed her and threw her down on the bed, all against her will.

A Portland police spokesperson acknowledges that Al and the woman were, indeed, in the room together at the same time but authorities have declined to investigate further.

The woman in question hasn’t filed any charges, but says she wants “justice.” So far Al and his wife of forty years, Tipper have had an amicable separation, but that could all change if more details emerge that Al was a sexual predator during their marriage.

The now 52-year-old woman told investigators that she told her pals about the incident and kept clothes she wore that night, including stained black pants.

It seems the former VP was engaging in far more than some ‘green activity’ with environmentalist Laurie David, but she claims it isn’t true!

After weeks of speculation it seems the reason behind Al and Tipper Gore‘s split has finally come to light – his alleged two year affair with Larry David‘s ex-wife Laurie! Star reports, “the former Vice President was having an affair with Larry David’s ex-wife — for the past two years!” Say it ain’t so Al!

Serial affairist Laurie split from Larry in 2007 amidst rumors she was having an affair with the caretaker of their Martha’s Vineyard home. Ironically, the Davids, much like the Gores, claimed their split was completely amicable.

Laurie denies the affair to Huffington Post saying, “The story is completely untrue. It’s a total fabrication. I adore both Al and Tipper. I look at them both as family. And I have happily been in a serious relationship since my divorce.”

Al and Laurie worked together promoting the Oscar winning film An Inconvenient Truth four years ago in 2006. Maybe the caretaker was actually a cover for another high profile man!

Everyone was completely shocked when one of the most publicly blissful couples ever, Tipper and Al Gore, called it quits via mass email yesterday. So after speculation about possible adultery was quickly quelled, the question still remained: How could this poster couple for marital concord suddenly decide to part ways?

“People either just grow apart or their lives take them apart,” says relationship expert Dr. David Eigen. “Al and Tipper weren’t able to maintain the connection or intimacy in their marriage so it just dissolved.”

Al and Tipper released a statement obtained by the AP, June 1, saying their decision to split was “a mutual and mutually supportive decision that we have made together following a process of long and careful consideration.”

We asked experts to weigh in on why they’d be doing this so late in the game because it just didn’t make any sense!

“People don’t always evolve together,” says relationship expert Whitney Casey. “For a while, opposites like Tipper and Al may attract but after 50-years of age opposites are just opposites.”

Believe it or not, we’re also told couples cite the same reason as Al and Tipper for terminating the marriage.

“80 percent of couples say it was a mutual decision,” admits relationship expert Pat Love. “What this usually means is ‘I’m not a priority in your life anymore’ and we don’t really know why this happened.”

Al and Tipper met at a prom in 1965 and Tipper ended up following Al to Boston where the two ended up having four children together. Even after such a strong foundation they still didn’t last a lifetime … it’s kind of scary isn’t it?

“When high school sweethearts marry, there is a likelihood of divorce,” says psychiatrist Dr. Carole Lieberman. “Because people change so much as the years pass. Al and Tipper actually defied the odds to stay married for 40 years.”

Ladies, doesn’t this sound a little depressing? It’s almost like there’s no point of even getting married then?

“The Gores had things in common over the years namely raising kids and Al’s political campaign,” says relationship expert Amy Levine. “But now that these aren’t in the forefront it likely became obvious they had less in common. People want to make the most of their lives, and rather than settle they split.”

After the shocking news that one of politics’ most steadfast couples are separating, the question had to be asked — what split them up?

The Gores’ friends and other background sources insist that the former vice president, 62, and Mrs. Mary Elizabeth “Tipper” Gore, 61, have just “grown apart.” What’s more, according to Politico, the pair simply didn’t spend time together and their extensive travel schedules kept them away from one another and their family.

However, almost to staunch the inevitable flow of rumor and speculation, friends have also told anyone who asked that there was “no suggestion of infidelity.” And over the course of their 40-year marriage, not even the hint of scandal has tainted their relationship, unlike so many couples around them.

It was “a mutual and mutually supportive decision that we have made together following a process of long and careful consideration,” the Gores said as per an emailed statement obtained by the Associated Press and Politico.

The Gores have been married since May 19, 1970 and are parents to Karenna, Kristin, Sarah LaFon and Albert Gore III.
