A newly-single Taylor seems to have dated everyone on earth, but did ‘The Onion’ take things a little far by now putting her together with an alleged mass killer?

When it comes to The Onion, people tend to find their spoof material either hilarious or way out of bounds. So did they cross the line this time with their attack on Taylor Swift by linking her with the alleged Aurora movie theater shooter James Holmes?

The news that Taylor and Harry Styles have broken up has affected everyone differently, and the fine folks at The Onion maybe made the biggest waves on the subject by now joking that Taylor has a new man, who just happens to be an alleged psychopathic killer.

The spoof paper jokingly claims, “Taylor and James were first spotted canoodling at a pre-trial hearing.” But the real question is, should The Onion be joking about something so controversial? They certainly haven’t shied away from controversy before with a 9-11-type post with the headline, “Sears extremists fly a plane into Willis Tower.”

And in 2011, so many people in Washington, D.C. believed a live-tweeting of a fake hostage situation and shootout at the Capitol building that D.C. police were actually forced to investigate.

We should all remember, six months ago, Aurora, CO was thrust into the spotlight by a horrible shooting, when a gunman’s bloody rampage left 12 dead inside a movie theater on July 20. The suspect of the theater shooting, James, is up for 24 counts of murder. But should he actually be used in a story about Taylor’s new love interest?

Chris Brown Cannot Sue ‘The Onion’ Over Angry Diss Article

Chris may be angry about the harsh article written about him by ‘The Onion,’ but a noted attorney tells HollywoodLife.com exclusively that the R&B star doesn’t have any legal options to combat it! Read on for all the details.

A harsh slam of Chris Brown‘s violent history appeared on The Onion on Dec. 6, criticizing his past behavior and Rihanna‘s recent decision to take the singer back. While the article probably felt like a major blow to Chris, an attorney tells us that the singer doesn’t have a defamation case on his hands.

Attorney David Schwartz, who does not represent Chris, spoke with HollywoodLife.com exclusively about whether Chris could seek legal action against The Onion for defamation of character. He told us, “Anyone can sue for defamation, but the question is would Chris Brown prevail in a defamation suit. He would not because it’s a newspaper offering an opinion based in comedy.”

David further clarified, “These are not statements asserting a fact and are covered under the first amendment and not subject to defamation.”

As you’ll recall, the article was written as though Chris himself had penned it, saying, “Still, no matter what I do, Chris Brown fans continue to maintain that my violent past is behind me, and that I’ll never again do what I did before the 2009 Grammy Awards, beating a woman until her face was bloodied and raw. Well, I’m sorry, but that’s just not true. I beat Rihanna once, and to be perfectly honest, I’ll probably do it again. Folks, I do not treat women very well. That’s just who I am, and that’s who I’ll always be no matter what happens to me or who I’m dating.”
