Here’s a fun little life lesson: If you suggest that Black Keys drummer Patrick Carney deserves to be “slapped around,” you’d better expect him to fight back where it really hurts — Twitter! Just days after Justin Bieber suggested violence against Patrick, the 32-year-old drummer retaliated by changing his entire Twitter account to resemble the Biebs’ last week. Needless to say, Beliebers were not pleased.

“I am bieber now,” Patrick tweeted Feb. 13 after changing his avatar and Twitter bio to resemble Justin’s. What transpired during the next few days was a collection of hilarious tweets from Patrick (as Justin), as well as disturbing threats from Justin’s angry fans. Here’s a collection of my favorite tweets:

1. “To all my peoples U make make my life so full of swag. I swag out all day just thinking about all the swag u guys inspire me to swag with.” (Feb. 16)

Justin Bieber’s Fans Attack With Homphobic Tweets

One of the most upsetting parts of this whole exchange, considering Patrick never actually tweeted anything mean about Justin, was the amount of anti-gay slurs hurled at the drummer from Beliebers. Here are just a few examples of truly disgusting instances of homophobia that Patrick was bold enough to retweet:

Apparently Justin Bieber, 18, is not a fan of The Black Keys — especially their drummer. Patrick Carney, 32, set Justin off when he threw some shade at him on the Grammys red carpet Feb. 10, and based on Justin’s reaction tweet, he’s ready to throw down!

“The black keys drummer should be slapped around haha,” the Biebs tweeted Feb. 12 to his 34.2 million followers.

The tweet comes in response to a slight dig Patrick blew Justin’s way when a reporter asked him how he felt about Justin getting shut out from all Grammy nominations.

“He’s rich, right? Grammys are for music and not money,” Patrick stated, “He’s making a lot of money. He should be happy with that.”

Justin obviously took the hint. The Black Keys drummer, who does have a reputation of causing some friction — he’s called Nickelback “horrendous sh*t” and Jack White has challenged him to a fight — was suggesting that Justin’s music is all about the bottom line, that art and emotion have nothing to do with it.

And Justin, who just released an acoustic album on which he bares his soul and feelings about his relationship Selena Gomez, definitely let the rocker’s comment get under his skin.

Bieber’s Rough Grammy Night

The Biebs’ shortsighted tweet rounds up an overall unsuccessful Grammy night. He, of course, did not receive ANY nominations; and when he attempted to undermine the broadcast of the show by streaming his own live show online, his video crashed.

And to make matters worse, Justin’s quest to get Selena back is not going well: “She doesn’t want to see [him],” a source close to Selena tells HollywoodLife.com, “She is dying to move on from him.”

The Black Keys had a great night at The Grammys on Feb. 10. The critically-beloved band took home three statuettes in the Rock categories, for Album, Performance, and Song. Dan Auerbach, guitarist in the two-man group, also took home the coveted Producer of the Year Grammy. But it wasn’t all party for Dan, 33, as a new report claims that the musician is in the midst of a divorce with wife Stephanie Gonis!

Several sources tell Us Weekly that Dan and Stephanie are calling it quits. “Dan’s wife wasn’t there [at the ceremony] because they are going through a divorce,” one source told the magazine, adding that the separation is “unfortunate.” The “Howlin’ For You” musician was noticeably missing his wedding band as he walked the red carpet at the event.

He and Stephanie have one daughter together, 4-year-old Sadie Little Auerbach.

The Black Keys’ Grammys Acceptance Speech

While he and bandmate Patrick Carney made their acceptance speech during the ceremony inside the Staples Center, the kept their words brief, thanking their professional partners and crew and “everybody in Akron, Ohio and everybody in Nashville.”

The Black Keys Awards History

The band won Best Rock Album for El Camino, Best Rock Song and Best Rock Performance for “Lonely Boy” at the ceremony. The new hardware joins their three previous Grammys, won in 2011. They took home Best Alternative Music Album and Best Recording Package for Brothers and Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal for “Tighten Up”. The group also has a 2010 MTV Video Music Award for Best New Artist under their belt.

Not only that, they have a busy year ahead of them. Their follow-up to El Camino is already in the works.

The official lineup for the Coachella Festival has been announced — with The Black Keys, Radiohead and Dr. Dre & Snoop Dogg.
