Crystal Kelly, 29, was paid $22,000 to have a baby for a Connecticut couple, but was horrified when the baby girl’s parents instructed Crystal to get an abortion after disabilities in the child were revealed in the ultrasound. The biological parents to offered Crystal $10,000 to abort the baby. She asked for $15,000, but the parents refused.

The baby’s parents aggressively requested custody of the child with intentions of placing her in foster care. After an on-going legal battle with the parents, Crystal flew to Michigan to give birth to the child according to CNN, thus leaving the child to be fostered, rather than being raised by herself or the originally intended parents.

The couple, who desperately desired a fourth child, provided the surrogate with an embryo they had left over from a previous round of in-vitro fertilization. The process began on Oct. 8 2011, and Crystal became pregnant only 10 days later.

The Disability Debacle

The biological mother kept closely in touch with Crystal and called her daily to check on her morning sickness. She gave Christmas gifts to Crystal and her two daughters and even paid off the monthly surrogate fee ahead of time since Crystal was currently faced with financial issues.

“I want you to come to us with anything because you’re going to be part of our lives forever,” said Kelley to CNN. Things began to change in February when the ultrasound test showed that the baby’s development was not going as smoothly as it once did.

The ultrasound revealed that the baby had a cleft lip and palate, a cyst in her brain and a series of heart defects according to the Daily Mail. A spleen and stomach were undetectable. Doctors at Hartford Hospital said the baby needed a variety of surgeries after birth and had a 25 percent chance of living normally.

The parents requested pregnancy termination as they saw the baby’s medical problems as overwhelming for the infant. Nonetheless, Crystal is very religious and disagreed stating that “all efforts should be made to give the baby a chance.”

SJP admits she feels greedy for craving more kids — but she won’t rule out adding to her brood!

Are there more babies on the horizon for Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick? The actress hints the answer could be yes — but is she too old at 46?

The actor and his wife Gina are celebrating the birth of a baby boy and girl born to a surrogate on July 5.

Because they were born prematurely, William Petersen and Gina Cirone‘s newborn twins are still in the hospital — but the couple are preparing to take them home for the first time!

“The babies are doing great and are improving every day and we can’t wait for them to come home,” William, 58, tells People magazine.

The actor, who quit CSI in 2009 after nine years, has a daughter, Maite, 36, from a previous relationship — and two grandsons.

The super rich society girl turned to a shady agency through desperation, after struggling to adopt a sibling for her 4-year-old daughter through legitimate means.

When she discovered what she was doing was illegal Taylor Stein, the former lover of Estee Lauder boss William Lauder, blew the lid off the scam – leading the FBI to the crooks making a fortune from black market babies.

The agency was charging premium fees for ‘white’, ‘well-bred’ ‘American ‘babies, that were actually created by sperm and egg donors in the Ukraine and carried by impoverished American surrogates.

“Looking back, there are signs I should have seen. But I didn’t, I just didn’t,” Taylor tells the New York Post.

“I was trying to adopt a child in need . . . and it became very, very complicated,” and then an agency popped up.

She handed over an eye-watering $180,000 to Baby Dreams in return for an unwanted surrogate baby.

“My girlfriend had an attorney . . . [who] told me she had a baby who was originally meant to be adopted by another couple. They had employed a surrogate, and the couple just walked away, and would you like the baby?”

“I decided this kid was in need . . . so I went through with it.”

But in September 2009 she was told the surrogate had run away.

It later turned out she had gone to the authorities to tip them off about the agency.

Taylor was promised another unwanted surrogate baby, and went ahead with the adoption process. Two weeks before she was due to pick up her baby, the FBI came calling.

“I got a phone call from the FBI. They were waiting for me outside my house. I was petrified,” she says.

“They told me, ‘We believe you have been the victim of an international fraud’ . . . and they told me they needed my help.”

“I was the ideal person . . . because my baby had not yet been delivered, so I wasn’t one of those parents who was petrified of losing their child.”

“They asked me to make some phone calls, be wired, get information, get as many confessions as possible and bully them into telling the truth, which I did.”

Taylor got enough information to help the FBI pinpoint and pounce on the ringleaders, Hillary Neiman, 32, Theresa Erickson, 43, a prominent surrogacy attorney, and Carla Chambers, 51, a former surrogate.

It turned out the trio were bullying cash-strapped women to become surrogates and flying them to the Ukraine to be implanted with fertilized eggs by anonymous donors – sidestepping strict US laws.

The babies were then born in California, where they weren’t required to put the name of the biological parent on birth certificates.

They had brokered at least twelve ‘adoptions’ by the time they were caught.

Neiman, Erickson and Chambers have pleaded guilty to wire-fraud charges and face sentencing in October.

Taylor meanwhile, ended up adopting the baby she was promised, after contacting the surrogate and ensuring they went through the proper and legal adoption process.

“My son was born in March 2011. His name is Ren Friedrick. He is 5 months old,” she tells the Post.

She now plans to travel to the Ukraine to find Ren’s biological parents, and make a documentary about her quest: “My son has no information about the identity of his real parents, and I think that is a birth right.”

Let’s hope she finds the truth Ren deserves!

The new dad, who just hosted the 65th Tony Awards on Sunday, June 12, has a lot to celebrate this year, including two adorable twins!

Neil Patrick Harris stole everyone’s heart as Doogie Howser on Doogie Howser M.D., but he’s been stealing some new hearts lately — and they belong to two new babies. Neil and husband David Burtka welcomed twins Gideon and Harper via a surrogate in October 2010.

The How I Met Your Mother star showed some hilarious snap shots of his costume clad during an appearance on David Letterman‘s talk show on June 9 — and we can’t get enough of them.

Neil and David, 35 , dress the cute twosome up for every holiday! “We do one a month,” NPH joked. “We’re doing a calendar, so when they’re older, we can humiliate them and embarrass them.”

And the twins are both biological, one is Neil’s and one is David’s — although they don’t know who is whose! “We inserted two eggs; one with my sperm, one with David’s sperm and they both took,” explains Neil. Pretty cool, right?

The actress and her country crooning hubby hopped a flight from L.A. with their adorable daughters Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret. Look at how big the baby is!

Between hit films and albums, award nominations and a new baby, it’s been a wonderful year so far for happy couple, Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban! And now we get a sneak peek of their baby daughter Faith Margaret, who was born via a surrogate on December 28! She looks a lot like her big sister 2½-year-old Sunday Rose!

“Our family is truly blessed, and just so thankful, to have been given the gift of baby Faith Margaret,” the couple said in a statement when Faith was born. “No words can adequately convey the incredible gratitude that we feel for everyone who was so supportive throughout this process, in particular our gestational carrier.”

(Nicole also has two adopted children with ex Tom Cruise, Isabella, 18, and Connor, 15.)

And by the looks of it, Keith will have three red-heads in his house! Too cute!

Elton John, 64, and his partner David Furnish, 48, reveal that their 4-month-old son Zachary‘s biological mother has been sending pumped breast  milk to the family via FedEx!

“The baby’s been brought up in Los Angeles for the first four months so we’ve had the breast milk FedExed from where she is to Los Angeles every day,” explains Elton during a recent interview with Barbara Walters, adding that his son’s surrogate will always be involved in his upbringing. “She and her family will still be a part of our lives growing up.” That’s wonderful!

And now that the secret is out about where the breast milk comes from, we’re hoping Elton and David will reveal which one of them is Zachary’s biological father — and luckily, they plan to!

“Zac will have to know for his medical records,” Elton says. “If it’s David, I’d be very proud. It wouldn’t matter to me – and vice versa.”

By the looks of it, we’re pretty sure we know who the dad is — Zachary is the spitting image of Elton!

The mother who had to give back her baby after a fertility clinic error is now expecting twins via a surrogate!

Carolyn and Sean Savage of Ohio, the couple who gave up a child that was not biologically theirs following a fertility clinic embryo mix-up, announced yesterday that they’re now expecting twins via surrogate! The couple are thanking their “guardian angel” who is their surrogate. This is such a happy ending to a terrible story!

Carolyn and Sean found out in early 2009 that the baby she was carrying after undergoing IVF was not their own, as Carolyn had been implanted with an embryo genetically belonging to another couple using the same clinic, Shannon and Paul Morells. Despite being advised to have an abortion, Carolyn, a devout Christian, gave birth to the baby boy, Logan, and handed hom over to his biological parents in the hospital.

“Jennifer, our carrier—our partner and guardian angel—has become part of our family. We are in awe of her generosity and our gratitude is beyond measure,” the couple said in their statement. “When we brought Logan into this world, we came to understand his life was a gift. We are humbled again as one very special woman is giving this same gift of family to us.”
