Designer Rubin Singer walked into what he thought would be a 20-minute meeting and walked out 3 1/2 hours later with an amazing opportunity in front of him — Beyonce had just asked him to design the outfit she would wear for the Pepsi Super Bowl half time show, where an estimated 108 million people would be watching from their homes across the nation. His initial encounter with the songstress exceeded his expectations — and apparently the feeling was mutual! “She turned to me and said, ‘Have you been living in my head?’ I said, ‘No, have you been living in mine?’”

What It Was Really Like Working With Beyonce:

Beyonce’s stylists paid the designer a visit in mid-November and when they saw his storyboard for his Autumn/Winter 2013 collection, entitled “Valkyrie’s Dominion,” they knew it would be the perfect fit for Queen Bey. Beyonce and Rubin got along great from the very beginning. “She wanted something that was couture, she wanted something very fresh. She kept telling me, ‘You’re so fresh, I haven’t seen this before,’” he says. “A lot of designers were vying for the opportunity and I was up against some heavy hitters, so the whole experience has been very humbling and very empowering. The reason why Beyonce chose me over a lot of people is because it was fashion. She wanted a real fashion designer.”

Over 200 hours, (and a slew of all-nighters), went into crafting the detailed leather, python, iguana and lace look for Beyonce. The get-up involved the manipulation of skins and lace — and the star was very hands-on. “It’s a highly stylized look, and it’s for one of the biggest events that exists. Of course I was nervous, but I was confident in my approach,” he says. “She was very involved, every step of the way. Every single decision we made collectively. She is so hyper-aware of everything. She would tell me, ‘Go back to your original plan, don’t overthink it. We don’t want it to look like a costume.’”

Along with the look for the songstress, he also crafted 120 looks for the backup dancers and the outfit worn by Michelle Williams.

Game Day:

There’s no denying the fact that Beyonce didn’t hold back when she stormed the stage, moving and shaking in ways like never before. Ensuring the star would be able to unleash her fierce moves without suffering a wardrobe malfunction was definitely a main concern, says Rubin. “There’s no way anything was going anywhere! It’s easily one of the most complicated pieces I’ve ever done. It’s all elastic inside, beneath the leather and lace. A lot of moving parts went into this, and it constantly needed to be tweaked. It would be a tragedy had it held her back in any way.” The designer was working on the look and editing the costume up until the afternoon of the big show!

Before Beyonce was Queen Bey, back in the Destiny’s Child days, her mom, Tina Knowles, crafted the majority of the costumes worn by the girls — and the star brought her mom along to fittings so she could share her opinion on Rubin’s custom creation. Rubin says working with Beyonce’s whole team was a very rewarding opportunity. “Tina gave me tickets to sit in the front row for the game. They were so gracious and kind to let me into their world.”

Seeing the star step out on the stage during the big game was an experience unlike any other — and the hard work certainly paid off! “It was such a moving moment for me. I saw her [Beyonce] backstage after the show and she went up to me and hugged me and thanked me,” he says. “I was with her hubby [Jay Z] and her inner circle so it was really such an amazing moment.”

So, what happens to the costume, (and all the replicas), now that the Super Bowl is over? Will Rubin dress up a mannequin in one of the fierce leather and lace looks? Apparently that isn’t the case. “She gets to keep everything,” he says.

Will Rubin & Beyonce Work Together Again?

While the designer said he “couldn’t say,” whether or not he had another project with Beyonce in the works, he did say we can expect to see a slew of looks with a similar asthetic in his upcoming collection. Rubin’s lips may be sealed, but we’re keeping our fingers crossed, hoping to see another epic ensemble!

Most designers work around the clock to complete their collection in time for New York Fashion Week — but on top of his upcoming presentation, he was also dedicated to Beyonce’s Super Bowl look. For the NY-based designer and his 14-person team, he definitely had his work cut out for him — but it was definitely an amazing opportunity. “It was just an extraordinary experience with extraordinary people,” he says.

Beyoncé knocked it out of the ball park with her amazing performance at the Super Bowl XLVII Pepsi halftime show on Feb. 3, and yes, I am aware that that is a baseball metaphor! After her electrifying performance, where she was joined by Destiny’s Child, the New Orleans Superdome was plunged into darkness for 34 minutes from a power outage. Twitter was full of comments suggesting that Beyoncé’s show was so hot that she blew the power, but new evidence has proven that that is not the case.

Beyoncé’s Performance Didn’t Cause Power Shortage

“Lights out!!! Any questions??” Bey’s husband Jay-Z tweeted when half of the stadium went dark. Many people were quick to point out that Beyoncé’s extravagant show could have caused the shortage, but NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and some local officials have spoken out to say it was not Queen B’s fault.

In fact, officials were warned that this could have happened months ago.

The Louisiana Stadium and Exposition District tested the Superdome electrical feeders, and they were shown to have “some decay and a chance of failure.” They released a statement providing this information on Oct. 15, reports the New York Post.

Entergy New Orleans, the energy supplier to the Superdome, “had concerns regarding the reliability of the Dome service from Entergy’s connection point to the Dome,” the statement says.

Furthermore, and most importantly, Beyoncé’s show was powered by generators and not the house system.

So there we have it, Beyoncé did not cause the power cut. Metaphorically however, she blew the stadium down!

When Beyoncé, 31, began performing her smash hit “Crazy In Love” (with features a rap verse from Jay-Z, 43), many fans hoped and expected to see Hova on stage with his wife. Sadly, it never happened. As a source tells Us Weekly, the rap mogul made the decision to stay on the sidelines at the last minute.

“He wanted that to be her moment and didn’t want to take away from it,” a source close to the couple tells the magazine. “She had been working her a** off.” Instead, he watched the explosive performance from a special designated area, along with their 12-month-old daughter, Blue Ivy, and other family members.

Beyoncé’s Note Of Praise

Beyoncé was quite proud of all of the performances that took place during the Super Bowl, not just her own. After the game, she shared a handwritten note on her Tumblr that read, “What a proud day for AFRICAN AMERICAN WOMEN!!!!! Kelly, Michelle, Alicia, Jhud [Jennifer Hudson]. You are all beautiful, talented and showed so much class! It was an honor to perform at the Super Bowl with you phenomenal ladies. Love Beyoncé.”

Two weeks after her lip-syncing scandal at the Presidential Inauguration on Jan. 21, Beyoncé finds herself at the center of another scandal, as viewers at the Super Bowl XLVII have accused her of having a louder microphone than her Destiny’s Child band mates Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams. Beyoncé and girls killed it in their performance and all looked sexy in leather, but while the trio sang “Single Ladies”, Beyoncé was noticeably louder than her band mates. Was her microphone turned up?

People Speak Out About Beyoncé’s Microphone

Several notable reporters who were covering the event spoke out about Beyoncé’s impressive pipes, and many thought that something suspicious was happening.

“It was difficult to hear the vocals of Rowland and Williams, either because of the microphone volumes or the background music,” said Blue Carreon in Forbes.

“Rowland and Williams were barely heard when the group sang Independent Woman, as their voices faded into the background,” reported CBS News.

“Rowland and Williams’ microphones seemed to be at a lower volume than their former group mate’s,” suggested Zap2It’s Lauren Brown.

Marc Malkin from E! said: “I think Michelle and Kelly r p***ed their audio was so low that they cut the wires on their way out,” referring to the 34 minute long black out that occurred at the beginning of the third quarter.

Meanwhile, R’n'B singer Keyshia Cole criticized Michelle’s performance, as she tweeted “I think I was frightened to blink for a sec. Then Michell sung and woke my ass up from my daze! She always f*** the groove up.”

So mean!

During the girls’ performance of “Single Ladies”, Beyoncé was notably louder than Michelle and Kelly, but that may have just been because she has such a powerful voice.

Louder or not, Beyonce posted a pic of her with her with the girls after the show on her Tumbler page.

On Feb.3 Beyonce Knowles, 31, kicked off the Pepsi Super Bowl XLVII halftime show in style! It was the most anticipated performance yet. Queen Bey put her fantastic figure on full display when she stripped down on stage, singing and dancing the whole time!

Great minds think alike, indeed, as Madonna, 54, also chose an outfit that resembled ancient mythology from the Egyptians and Romans. She certainly had the warrior look going with gold, hand-embroidered full-length gowns with headdress and a cape that was hand-embroidered with gold metal, studs, crystals, and lined in leopard-print chiffon. The Queen of Pop was portraying an Egyptian goddess with a dash of Versace-inspired Greece in this Givenchy Haute Couture creation by Riccardo Tisci. Madonna is known for reinventing herself so it wasn’t a surprise when she decided to reinvent herself once again just in time for the Super Bowl XLVI on Feb.2.2012.

Kelly Rowland,31, joined her former girl group members, Beyonce and Michelle Williams on stage during the Super Bowl Pepsi half time show for a gigantic Destiny’s Child reunion that wowed the crowd.
We were so excited to see the trio together again during Beyonce’s Super Bowl XLVII halftime show, sponsored by Pepsi, on Feb. 3 in New Orleans at the Super Dome. Queen Bey stole the spotlight in a custom-made leather get-up — and she wasn’t the only gal on stage that wowed the crowd in a sexy leather look!

All three divas dressed in barely-there black leather outfits that allowed the stars to put their fantastic figures on full displau. Kelly was spotted wearing a hip-hugging custom leather bodysuit by Emilio Pucci. The bodysuit had a plunging, deep-v neckline with a zipper that really enhanced her assets. She paired her bodacious curves with Proenza Schouler ankle boots, fingerless gloves, tights, and black over-the-knee socks. She finished off the show-stopping get-up with a smokey black eye lids and pale pink lips, while her hair was straight, with blunt-cut bangs framing her face.

There’s no denying the fact that Sunday marked a very stylish Super Bowl, with stars showing off everything from bold bodysuits to glam gowns. Not only did Queen Bey totally own the stage, but Alicia Keys looked seriously sexy in a red Alia mermaid gown. Jennifer Hudson also flaunted her figure in leather, but her long-sleeved bodysuit and pencil-skirt-combo wasn’t as revealing as the Destiny’s Child costumes. Michael Oher is probably still celebrating after the spectacular victory of the Baltimore Ravens against the San Francisco 49ers at the Super Bowl XLVII on Feb. 3. The story of Michael’s tough upbringing was told in the 2010 film The Blind Side, which starred Sandra Bullock, who was there to cheer on Michael, 26, with her son Louis, who looked adorable in a Ravens jersey! When Michael and his team won, he and his adopted mom Leigh Ann Tuohy shared a touching hug.

Michael Oher Leads Baltimore Ravens To Victory

Michael and the Ravens beat the 49ers 34-31, and he and his teammates took to the field to celebrate! After an eventful Super Bowl that included an amazing half-time show with Beyoncé and Destiny’s Child, and a 30-minute-long black out, the Ravens went home with the Vince Lobmardi Trophy.

But perhaps one of the most special moments of the event was when Michael hugged his mom Leigh Ann, and she cried tears of joy at her adopted son’s victory.

“I came so far from nothing to a Super Bowl champion. I’m in shock right now!” Michael told Good Morning America host Josh Elliott. ”We won the Super Bowl!” added an excited Leigh Ann.

Leigh Ann was seen going nuts when the game ended and the Ravens were declared the winner, as she jumped up and down and screamed and shouted for joy. Michael’s birth mother Denise Oher watched the game in downtown Memphis, and she also shared her happiness at the result.

“I’m proud of him. I love him and I’m going to give God all that praise for his success,” Denise told local station Fox 19. “I’m excited, I’ve been excited since they won. I knew he was going to be successful in sports.”

Michael’s story of his troubled childhood is told in The Blind Side, as he moved between foster homes in Memphis before Leigh Ann and Sean Tuohy took him into their home. They eventually became his legal parents, and they encouraged his professional football career.

Sandra, who played Leigh Ann in the film, is a big fan of Michael’s.

“She’s a great advocate of doing the right thing. She’s a big giver,” Leigh Ann said. “She follows Michael’s career every step of the way. It’s funny. I’ll get texts during the game: ‘Why did they do this? They shouldn’t have done that.’”

How great that Sandra takes such an interest! Michael’s story is truly inspiring.

Sandra Bullock won an Oscar for her role in The Blind Side as Leigh Anne Tuohy, the woman who adopted an abandoned inner-city child and guided him to a college scholarship and a fruitful career in the NFL. Well, it looks like Sandra has let The Blind Side spill over into her real life!

Louis Bullock: The Mini ‘Blind Side’ Star

Since the real Michael Oher was playing in the Super Bowl on Sunday, Sandra Bullock joined his adopted family, the Tuohys, at the Superdome in New Orleans to cheer him on. But Sandra wasn’t alone — she brought along her ridiculously cute son, Louis Bullock.

Louis was the real star though — looking so adorable in the purple Michael Oher jersey.

According to Leigh Anne Tuohy, Sandra still keeps tabs on Oher and the family. “She follows Michael’s career every step of the way,” Tuohy said. “I’ll get texts [from her] during the game: ‘Why did they do this? They should have done that.’”

Sandra Bullock Gives Back To New Orleans

The cute-as-heck Louis — who is from New Orleans himself — isn’t the only symbol of Sandra Bullock’s amazing charity.

Sandra is also renowned for her charity work in the New Orleans community. Since Hurricane Katrina decimated the Warren Easton Charter School, she has “adopted” it and donated more than $500,000 to the high school, funding the school’s extensive renovations and providing scholarships to students. On Jan. 9, Sandra won the first-ever People’s Choice Award for Favorite Humanitarian. She deserves it!
