Whitney Houston‘s final recording, a duet she performed with Jordin Sparks for the movie Sparkle, has finally been released. The song, entitled “Celebrate,” was recorded just four days before Whitney’s death in February, reports TMZ.

The two collaborated on the track for the movie (to be released in August) in which Whitney plays Jordin’s mother.

Despite Whitney’s history of drug use, which ultimately led to her untimely death, producer Harvey Mason Jr. said that Whitney was “really positive” during the recording process. “We ended the session dancing around the control room while she said, ‘Turn it up! Turn it up!’ She was so fun-loving.”

Pop icon Whitney Houston was poised to cement her comeback with the summer release of Sparkle. Sadly, the recently deceased pop icon won’t get the chance to enjoy it. Nevertheless, we couldn’t imagine a more fitting tribute to the late, great singer. Sony has just released the first full-length trailer for the film, which features a smiling — and singing! — Whitney. Watch it after the jump!

Set in Detroit during the Motown era, Sparkle tells the story of a three sisters who form a girl group. Whitney plays their single mother, a washed-out singer who tries to warn her daughters against the perils of fame.

In a sad instance of life imitating art, Whitney’s Emma asks her daughter, “Was my life not a cautionary tale for you?”

Sparkle also stars American Idol winner Jordin Sparks in the title role, as well as The Voice judge Cee Lo Green.
