Robert Pattinson and Sofia Coppola would make a great team but there’s nothing in the works yet! HollywoodLife.com spoke with Hollywood heartthrob Stephen Dorff who starred in Sofia’s 2010 film Somewhere, and he gave us the scoop as to why Rob and Sofia dined in Hollywood on Feb. 3 at the The Musson & Frank Grill!

“I’ve actually got a bit of gossip for you, I don’t think he’s in it,” Stephen tells HollywoodLife.com. “But she did meet with him. She’s my good friend.”

We told you that Sofia has been wanting to work with Rob for a “long time” and that she hoped to have him star in an upcoming quirky dramedy.

“It was a smaller role of like a club door guy,” Stephen says.

Although Stephen won’t admit he’s a Twi-hard, he did play a vampire in the 1998 hit vampire superhero movie Blade.

“I like playing a vampire,” he told us. “I think Sofia almost directed one of the Twilight movies. I love working with her, she’s a great director, she has an original voice. There’s not much originality in the world today so when you get a chance to work with someone like her … I’d love to work with her again.”

Stephen stars in the upcoming film Brake, which hits theaters this March and goes On Demand Feb. 17.

Director Sofia Coppola, 40, thinks Twilight star Rob Pattinson, 25, should lighten his choice of roles with a quirky romance dramedy.

“Sofia has wanted to work with Rob for a long time,” a movie exec tells HollywoodLife.com. “She thinks he would be great in a movie similar to Lost in Translation.”

And apparently, Sofia believes Rob could be her next muse to resurrect her own career.

“She is actually hoping to make a comeback with Rob. They have met a few times to discuss the project,” continues the source. “Sofia wants to write and direct the film but wants Rob to be involved as much as possible. She thinks Rob has a magnificent sense of humor and wants to show it off. She wants to show everyone his quirky, eccentric self.”

The Twitterverse was abuzz Feb. 3 when Robert Pattinson was spotted with writer/director Sofia Coppola at Hollywood’s iconic Musso and Frank Grill – and now HollywoodLife.com has exclusive details about their dinner together. “It was just the two of them, and they seemed to be talking business,” an eyewitness tells us. “They sat in a corner booth and were there for two hours.”

And what did the pair eat while talking business?

“Rob had the spaghetti and meatballs, and Sofia had the risotti with porcini mushrooms,” our source continues. “Rob was really cool and left a huge tip for his server.”

And it sounds like a new project could be in the works!

“Sofia has been here before; she’s kind of like a regular,” our source explains. “I had never seen Rob here before. A lot of celebrities come here to discuss business projects. Sofia once came here with Scarlett Johansson when they were working on a film together.”

We’d love to see Rob in one of Sofia’s movies! We could totally picture him starring in something funky like Marie Antoinette or more emotional like Somewhere.

We’ve had a Robert Pattinson sighting! The 25-year-old Twilight hunk is back in Los Angeles and was spotted leaving The Musso & Frank Grill in Hollywood Feb. 3. From the sound of it, he was dining with A-list director, Sofia Coppola.

Eyewitness Anne Thompson wrote on Twitter, “At musso + franks for dinner; sofia coppola just left followed by rob pattinson.”

Although it could have been purely coincidental Rob and Sofia were at the nearly 100 year old restaurant at the same time, we think they may have been meeting about a future project. The Musso & Frank Grill is legendary in Los Angeles, as all the famous old timers used to go there, like Charlie Chaplin.

Stephen Dorff & Elle Fanning deliver powerhouse performances.

Most reviews of the work of writer-director Sofia Coppola mention she is the daughter of Hollywood heavyweight Francis Ford Coppola, who directed many classic movies, including The Godfather trilogy. But Somewhere, her fourth film, will be the piece which definitively lifts her out of her father’s shadow.

Somewhere returns Sofia’s gaze to Hollywood, a place she last examined in her brilliant 2003 film Lost In Translation. Her latest follows the life of Johnny Marco (Stephen Dorff), a disillusioned Tinseltown bad boy who is holed away at the Chateau Marmont hotel on Sunset Boulevard, wasting his days trapped in the excess of fame. But a surprise visit from his 11-year-old daughter Cleo (Elle Fanning) inspires him to reassess his life.

If you’re not sure a quiet, thoughtful trip into the psyche of the rich and famous is right for you, here are five reasons why you should go see Somewhere:

1. Stephen is not particularly known for his strong acting skills. But this is the role which will open up his career to bigger and better scripts. It may not seem like a stretch for a hardened, bad-boy movie star to play a hardened, bad-boy movie star, but his nuance sets him apart from his peers.
2. One of Sofia’s trademarks is the re-appropriation of pop music in interesting ways, and it’s fascinating to hear older radio staples such as Gwen Stefani‘s “Cool” and Foo Fighters‘ “My Hero” positioned in emotional scenes.
3. Every shot in the film is deliberately plotted, making for a visually arresting foray into the California sun.
4. Sofia has said the film is based on her personal experiences as a young girl behind the scenes with Hollywood elite, so the small details she writes into her script make the story feel intimate and authentic.
5. Though the emotional discovery is intense, there are several moments of well-placed humor, ranging from laugh-out-loud to cringe-worthy subtlety.
