Rachel Zoe attended The Cinema Society and Showtime first of ‘Homeland’ event on August 13th in a simple black and brown getup, but kept her boho-chic style alive in her sexy side braid.Rachel has admitted that she tends not to do much with her curly mane, but she broke that rule the other night! Rachel had her hair in a trendy side braid, with a lot of loose pieces in the front.

Lauren Conrad once ruled the reality TV world and made famous her signature look which almost always included a side braid twist (not fully a braid nor twist, pinned with a bobby pin). During her reign as reality TV queen, the look was copied by fellow Hollywood stars, but as The Hills ratings declined, so did the braid’s popularity. When all hope for the braid was thought to have been lost, it has surprised us all and seems to have found a new home on top of some even younger Hollywood stars!

Hailee Steinfeld and Rebecca Black sported LC’s former partner in crime on two recent red carpets. Both teens wore the braid with super straight hair, putting the braided side behind their backs.

The star of True Grit, 14, has been looking so gorgeous this entire awards season– we just can’t believe how polished and elegant she looks at such a young age! We love how Hailee chooses hair and makeup looks that are so interesting but also so age-appropriate. (And maybe it’s a nod to the movie that made her famous, but she loves wearing braids!)

At the Feb. 24 Hollywood Reporter Big 10 Party in LA, Hailee wore a cute white mini-dress and sparkly shoes, and she kept her makeup minimal with berry-pink gloss and black mascara. The real hit was her hair, which was parted to the side in a long braid, with a sparkly hair accent: a crystal black bow holding the braid together. So sweet!

• Part your hair to the side, then use a dime-sized amount of ted gibson tame it^TM shine lotion to smooth hair back into low pony. (Use an elastic that matches your hair color!)
• Divide your hair into two equal sections. Smooth each section with another dime-sized amount of tame it^TM, then twist both sections clockwise while twisting them together counterclockwise.
• Secure the bottom with whatever hair accessory you want– barrette, elastic or clip! Finish with ted gibson beautiful hold hair^TM spray, and you’re ready to go!

Want to wear a trendy side braid but your layers keep coming loose? Copy Ashley Greene’s twisty trick!

Unless you’ve been living under a rock all summer, you know the side braid is the go-to ‘do for all the young starlets in Hollywood like Nikki Reed and Nicole Richie. The only problem is, if you’ve got layers in your hair, it can be quite tricky to get them all to stay inside the braid. Thankfully, Twilight star Ashley Greene is here to give us some inspiration on how to solve this frustrating problem. While out in Los Angeles on July 28, Ashley wore a cute, casual side braid. To keep her gorgeous layers at bay, Ashley simply twisted the front portion of her tresses and pinned it back behind the braid. This way she’s not fussing with her errant strands. Instead, they’re neatly tucked out of her face. I love this idea so much. Do you have any tricks for getting a perfect side braid?

Nicole Richie showed off her version of the summer side braid. Was it sexy or a bit too messy?

Every starlet these days has been rocking summer’s biggest hair trend: the side braid. Nicole Richie debuted her version at Bing’s Celebration of Creative Minds in LA on June 22. Nicole went for a very tousled and intentionally frizzy version of the summer staple. I like how she left a few strands loose on the right side of her face to balance out the braid on the left. I’m kind of feeling the exaggerated texture in her hair but think it may be better suited for the beach than the red carpet. What do you think though? Is it sexy, or just a bit sloppy?
