Sheryl Phillips is the proud mama of Season 11 American Idol champion, Phillip Phillips. However, we’re not so sure Phil, 22, can say the same about her after her most recent debacle. Sheryl was caught driving recklessly in Phillip’s hometown of Albany, Georgia on Feb. 14. Read on for details.

Sheryl Phillips: Drunk Driving

An officer in an undercover unit caught Sheryl swerving her vehicle across lanes of traffic in Albany and saw cause for concern, TMZ reports. She was pulled over to the side of the road for further investigation. Officials had reason to believe she was driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and issued a field sobriety test. Unfortunately, she failed the test.

‘American Idol’ Winner’s Mom Arrested For DUI

After she failed to complete the sobriety test, officers took Sheryl into custody. She was first transferred to a nearby hospital for examination, where doctors deemed her well enough to proceed to jail. She was booked in the Dougherty County jail. Hopefully she won’t make that place her home!

Phillip Phillips’ Family Troubles

It was reported that Sheryl and her husband had split one week prior to the incident, and it is also known that Phillip has had a rocky relationship with his family after he refused to help out with their finances when their pawn shop went under. Phillip was accused of blowing off his family in a time of need. Could Sheryl’s slip-up be a cry for help?
