Even though fall and winter fashions are geared toward keeping warm in the frigid temps, the team at Sephora Pro came up with a fun new way to warm up the runway — with sunny, glowing skin! Here’s how YOU can recreate the look.

Lead Sephora Pro Makeup Artist Val Garland explained that her vision for the makeup for the Herve Leger show was one of “natural beauty, California surfer casual.” In a collection full of hoods, hats, long flowing hair and caps, the makeup should not distract from the look, she explained. Radiant, bronzed skin subtly enhanced the looks without overpowering the styles!

To create the models’ glowing complexions, the Sephora Pro team used Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage and Stila Stay All Day Foundation & Concealer to correct and refine the skin tones. Benefit Watt’s Up! was used to highlight dark spots where necessary and give some shimmering sheen to the cheekbones. Stila Convertible Color in Camellia and Hourglass Illume Creme-To-Powder Bronzer gave the girls’ cheeks a sunkissed glow.

Nothing is worse than obvious, stripey bronzer! To avoid looking streaky and maximize your glow, apply a light dusting of bronzer to the spots of the face that would normally catch the sun’s rays — your forehead, temples, and nose. Extend that bronzer to your eyelids and browbones to get an even glow without using any extra products.

No Mascara On The Runway

Val Garland shocked us when she explained that the makeup team would not be using mascara on the models — for any beauty-obsessed girl out there, mascara is a total staple! She explained that, “sometimes, on the catwalk, mascara just looks too modern.” In this case, mascara would take the look beyond a sunkissed surfer-girl style. If you’re skeptical about giving your mascara the season off, give an eyelash curler a try. Pump the curler against your lashes multiple times for great curl — even without product. If you MUST add mascara to your surfer casual look, make sure it’s waterproof!

At the show, the Sephora Pro team used the Sephora Eyelash Curler to maximize curl and Tarte EmphasEYES Inner Rim Brightener to perk up and brighten the eyes with minimal product.

The perfect glowing look is not complete without a polishing coat of nude lip color. To get your best results, use a semi-sheer nude color. This will play up your natural lip color rather than looking chalky or cakey, which completely cancels out the effortless effect of your casual look. For the Herve Leger show, models used Sephora Rouge Shine Lipstick in No. 01 Honeymoon.

The Duane Reade at 40 Wall Street in NYC is now offering blowouts, hair conditioning treatments, manicures, and brow threading. Sephora has recently announced their nail art and laquer shops that will be opening in their TIme Square and San Francisco locations. Both stores offer walk-in services with trained technicians. Is this a big convenience or a soon-to-be short-lived trend?

You might be wondering, why would I go to a Sephora instead of a nail salon or a Duane Reade instead of a hair salon? Well, it’s certainly convenient to be able to get a walk-in appointment and be able to pick up a prescription or your favorite lip gloss at the same time. Also, blowouts at Duane Reade will cost you 35-45 dollars — a very reasonable price compared to what a typical salon might charge.

Are you dying to get your hands on what he thinks is a hot scent on a woman? We are!

Justin Bieber is always looking out for his favorite female fans! He’s made a fruity fragrance just for them called “Someday.” We already saw his nail polish line and scented dog tags, but a women’s fragrance shows us who he’s really thinking about!

Justin told Women’s Wear Daily, “Let’s be real, the way a girl smells is very important to a guy! I have such a deep connection with my fans, so creating a fragrance that I personally love is another way I can bring them closer to my world.”

The bottle has removable charms hanging at the neck and a heart-shaped flower on top, designed by Lance McGregor. Honorie Blanc of Firmenich formulated it as a “fruity gourmand” formula, perfect for his adoring teenage girls!

Justin put a lot of thought into this project. He says, “They really let me take the lead on the entire project, because I know my fans better than anyone — from working with the team on the development of the fragrance itself to helping to design the bottle and its packaging.”

Jessica Hanson, director of fragrances at Sephora said, “We’ve never had a male celebrity sell a women’s fragrance: however, Justin certainly speaks to our younger fragrance clients.”

The fragrance will range from $35-$55 and will be shipped out in June! There will also be a hair mist and body lotion in the collection! Are you totally excited for this? We are!

Kim Kardashian inspired the makeup at her Bebe-Kardashian Collection runway show and soon, you’ll be able to get the look, too!

After the successful launch of her new fragrance, Kim Kardashian is teaming up with Sephora again. This time she’s moving on to cosmetics. “For holiday, you will see a palette of smoky eyes that I created with Sephora,” Kim spilled to me backstage after her Bebe-Kardashian Collection runway show hosted by STYLE360 on Feb. 16. “I would love to come out with my own cosmetic line but it’s one thing at a time. I love so many beauty products and I’m so passionate about it. I want to do it right. It will be there one day,” Kim promises. Sounds like a great idea to us, who wouldn’t want to look like Kim. Seriously, this girl is flawless. (Trust me, I was standing two feet away from her, she’s gorgeous!)

Kim’s already a beauty icon. All the models at the Bebe-Kardashian Collection were made to look like Kim. “The inspiration is straight from Kim,” Sephora makeup artist Nathalie Bechard told me backstage before the show. “Everyone wants to look sexy like Kim – sultry, sexy, smoky eyes.” For the runway, Nathalie created a smoky eye using a combination of shimmery pewter, green, black and grey shadows. “And of course a nude lip to keep the focus on the eye – very Kim,” Nathalie says. - Marta Topran
