Sean Goldman of Tinton Falls, New Jersey was abducted to Brazil in 2004 at the age of 4 by his Brazilian-born mother. She left suddenly without telling his father, David Goldman. But now Sean has been reunited with his dad after five years of an international dispute and custody battle — and he’s speaking out about the ordeal!

Sean, now 11, will appear in his first interview since reuniting with his father in 2009. The interview airs on the April 27 episode of NBC’s Dateline at 10 p.m. with Meredith Vieira.

President Barack Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton got involved so the father and son could be re-connected. They were able to move the case to Brazilian federal court from the local courts, which allowed the father to be awarded with custody of his biological son!

Their bond could not be any stronger after they were reunited in 2009 and now his father is his “best buddy.”

“Other dads might just be a dad, but he’s more than a dad,’’ he said.

We are so happy that Sean and his father were reunited and he is back home in America!

9-year-old Sean Goldman was finally reunited with his father on Christmas Eve, after a five-year international custody battle!

Can you imagine if your son was taken from you? David Goldman has been living this nightmare for the last five years. But, just in time for Christmas 2009, father and son were reunited at long last on Dec. 24.

The very public, international saga began in 2004, when David Goldman’s wife, Bruna Bianchi, took their son, Sean, to her native country of Brazil for a vacation. She then divorced David and re-married a prominent Brazilian lawyer, refusing to send Sean back to the United States. David fought, but ultimately lost the case.

Then, in 2008, Bruna died while giving birth to her second child. Sean’s step-dad still wouldn’t relinquish the boy, claiming it would be too hard for the child to readjust in a country he no longer remembered. David still didn’t give up hope, visiting Brazil more than a dozen times, all the while garnering public support from both the Brazilian and U.S. presidents. He finally won his case Dec. 23.

David and Sean were reunited at the Brazilian U.S. consulate Dec. 24—just in time for the long-lost family to return home and celebrate the holidays together.
