A new report reveals that Hayden Panettiere and Scotty McKnight are officially broken up. How sad!

According to TMZ,  the two broke up a couple of weeks ago … but it wasn’t a nasty breakup. Apparently the two are still “really good friends.”

Another source says, “They will probably be back together sometime down the road.”

Scotty — who played for the NY Jets — is the 2nd pro athlete Hayden has dated — she was with pro boxer Wladimir Klitschko for a year and a half starting in late 2010.

As HollywoodLife.com previously reported, Hayden and Scotty started dating in July 2011.

Hayden was recently at the 2012 CMT Artist of the Year Awards, where she looked stunning in a hot pink gown. She very well might have been single at that event, which was held Dec.3 in Nashville.

The star accessorized her sexy, vibrant pink dress with aqua colored jewels and red peep toe heels — she really stood out! The Roberto Cavalli gown featured a slash cutout on the bodice giving it a chic and asymmetrical look. The frock had a beaded band that cinched in her tiny frame and led to a thigh-high slit. Underneath, her red Giuseppe Zanotti peep-toe pumps were exposed. And if that wasn’t enough for a pop of color, she also wore an aqua ring and matching jewel earrings by Sutra.

Hayden Panettiere is reportedly dating NFL player Scotty McKnight, who is coincidentally best friends with Mark Sanchez, to whom she was recently linked! Confused? So are we!

Even though she was recently spotted on what appeared to be a date with Mark Sanchez, Hayden Panettiere is now romantically linked to New York Jets player Scotty McKnight, reports US Weekly. In just three weeks, the 21-year-old actress has been out on dates with not one, but two NFL players — who are best friends at that! Is she on the rebound from her recent split with heavyweight champ Wladimir Klitschko?

Although the source didn’t give details, US Weekly is reporting Hayden and Mark’s best friend, Scotty, are indeed a couple.

That said, Hayden and Mark were were spotted outside an In-N-Out Burger in Laguna Hills, Calif. May 30 and the on-lookers thought it was a date!

Apparently Hayden wasn’t joking when she recently said, “I’m a huge Jets fan and became very good friends with Mark and his buddies.”

Random fact for you: Scotty, 23, was nearly expelled during his senior year of high school after writing a journal entry for a class assignment that contained explicit death threats directed toward a teacher.
