Less than a year after Bee Gees singer Robin Gibb died at age 62 from complications due to colorectal cancer, his youngest son Robin-John Gibb, 30, also known as RJ, is about to be a dad himself — his girlfriend Megan Golub, 34, is pregnant! But Robin’s widow Dwina Gibb, 60, has spoken out about the sadness she feels that her late husband won’t meet his own grandchild.

“I’d spent every New Year’s Eve of our 32 years together with Robin and missed him desperately,” Dwina tells Hello! magazine about her New Year’s Eve plans this year. ”To welcome in 2013, we all went outside and wrote Robin’s name in the sky with sparklers. I was thrilled about [RJ and Megan's] baby, but sad that Robin wasn’t with me to share the happiness,” she says.

RJ echoed the feeling of loss and sadness he feels that his own son or daughter won’t meet his or her grandfather.

“Now that I’m about to become a father myself, my sadness has made way for a sense of happiness I could never have imagined,” RJ tells the magazine. “Dad loved children and the idea of having grandchildren. He would have been over the moon to see his first grandchild. It’s such a shame that he won’t be there to hold him,” he adds.

So sad that Robin won’t be around to experience the joy of being a grandfather — but we’re so happy for RJ and Megan.

Robin Gibb, a singer in the indelible pop band the Bee Gees, has passed away after a long battle with cancer.

Robin, who was 62, died on May 20 surrounded those he loved the most, TMZ reports.

“The family of Robin Gibb, of the Bee Gees, announce with great sadness that Robin passed away today following his long battle with cancer and intestinal surgery. The family have asked that their privacy is respected at this very difficult time,” his spokesperson wrote in a statement.

Bee Gees star Robin Gibb, 62, was admitted to the London Clinic on Feb. 22 from a possible setback with his battle with cancer, but he’s “Stayin Alive.”

Despite speculation, reps for Robin have dismissed his return to the hospital as something to be worried about, claiming it’s just part of his rehabilitation, says the Daily Mail.

The singer announced five months ago that he had liver and colon cancer, but it’s been reported that docs have been very impressed with his progress.

“We feared the worst. But doctors have said they are astounded at his response to treatment,” a family insider told The Sun.

Just twelve days prior, Robin made his first concert appearance at the London Palladium since he announced his diagnosis and sang along with military trio The Soldiers for charity. At the event, he told the audience he was feeling “fantastic” and cracked a few jokes.

And despite looking incredibly emaciated during a televised chat with host Alan Titchmarsh that same month, Robin’s attitude was totally chipper.

“If you go back to when we first started I’ve always been skinny,” he said. “It’s hard for me to put on weight.”

He added, “If I had a choice about how I’d like to feel for the rest of my life, this would be it. If I wanted to tick all the right boxes about sense of well-being, it would be now. I don’t know how I could feel any better.”
