Taylor Swift has perfected the art of creating albums that double as diaries, and her latest release Red is no different. The album, released on Monday, Oct. 22, may follow the singer as she develops a fuller pop sound, but it also sticks closely to the lyrical format that’s made Taylor a global superstar!

Taylor, 22, has always been a country-pop artist with a strong emphasis on pop, and Red sees the singer fully submerged in those pop music waters, as first single “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” demonstrated and songs “22″ and “I Knew You Were Trouble” back up effectively.

But upbeat, pop isn’t the only thing Taylor attempts on this album. Her ballad skills are on clear display with tracks like “Treacherous” and “Red,” both of which also highlight Taylor’s diary-like lyrical mastery. “Losing him was blue like I’ve never known. Missing him was dark grey, all alone. Forgetting him was like trying to know somebody you never met, but loving him was red,” Taylor sings in “Red” — and you know exactly what she means.

The album is full of tracks that you will love — songs both vengeful and remorseful about lost love. Perhaps the greatest is “Sad Beautiful Tragedy,”a ballad that shows Taylor tapping into something sensuous, as well as tragic. “Long handwritten note, deep in your pocket. Words, how little they mean, when they’re a little too late,” Taylor sings, chillingly.

I don’t know why people keep breaking Taylor’s poor heart, but, as long as it continues to inspire such great work like this latest album, is it wrong to kind of hope it keeps happening?

Jackass 3D, the final installment in Johnny Knoxville‘s epic trilogy, made an estimated $50 million in its opening weekend, according to Nikki Finke‘s Deadline.com. Red came in second place with $22 million, but even a machine gun-wielding Helen Mirren wasn’t enough to keep the boys at bay.

We spoke to the talented mom-of-two at the NYC premiere of her new action flick Red, and she told us her kiddies got so upset as they watched her leave for her big night!

No more wild nights for Mary-Louise Parker! The 47-year-old actress might be glam from head-to-toe on red carpets but she runs straight home to put her two kids, William, 6, and Caroline, 3, to bed! Mary-Louise spoke to HollyBaby.com at the NYC premiere of her new film, Red, hosted by The Cinema Society & OC Concept at the MOMA on Oct. 3. We asked her how she manages to juggle a busy career and two kids, and it turns out it’s just as hard for a Hollywood mom as it is for the rest of us!

“When I was trying to leave tonight, my son was looking at me as the elevator doors were closing and he was screaming ‘DON’T GO!’” she told us. “It’s hard sometimes. I’m not going to the after party tonight, I give up a lot, but my kids come first.”

Mary-Louise, who also stars in the hit Showtime series Weeds, opted for something “different” when she took on the role of Sarah, a woman kidnapped by former CIA agent Bruce Willis, in Red, a hilarious, action-packed flick.

“It was different from anything I’ve ever done. It was eccentric enough and had some kid of levity,” she said. “I felt like if I was going to do this kind of a movie, this would be the one to do. And Bruce, he has that kind of appeal… that sexual… he has it in life and on screen… something you can’t describe, this ineffable thing.”

After the film’s premiere, the rest of the cast — including Helen Mirren, Morgan Freeman, John Malkovich, Ernest Borgnine and Bruce Willis — headed over to NYC’s Lambs Club at the Chatwal Hotel, where they partied the night away, sans Mary-Louise, who was at home tucking her little ones into bed!
