Raven-Symoné‘s career on the small screen may have hit a slight bump — her ABC Family comedy State of Georgia lasted only 12 episodes this past summer — but hopefully she’ll have better luck on Broadway! Raven, 26, will be playing Deloris Van Cartier in Sister Act in March, reports our sister site Deadline.com, a character made famous by Whoopi Goldberg in the original 1992 movie.

HollywoodLife.com chatted with Raven at Warner Bros. and InStyle‘s Golden Globes after party Jan. 15, and she told us all about her plans for 2012 in New York City.

“I actually had a couple positive goals rather then resolutions,” she told us. “I want to vacation more, and enjoy life a little more. … I actually have a fashion venture that I would like to see do better this year. I am focusing on my acting craft, and hopefully I’ll be moving to NYC soon.”

We asked if Broadway was going to part of those plans, to which she simply responded, “We’ll see,” accompanied by a smile and pair of crossed fingers.

Raven Symone worked the red carpet at the People’s Choice Awards on Wednesday looking so hot in tight black leather pants and thigh-high Louboutin boots! The former Disney star, 25, once referred to herself as “thick and fabulous” but now she’s svelte and stylish! We can’t get over how great she looks, but Raven thought she looked better before! She told People, “I thought I looked fabulous before and nobody else did. So, whatever.”

Raven blamed her extreme weight gain on the stress of filming her show, That’s So Raven. And maybe she was right, because since the show has gone off the air, Raven has been steadily losing weight. She just shot a new pilot for ABC Family called The Great State of Georgia, and we’re hoping this work situation is mentally healthier for the gorgeous star.

Raven-Symoné showed off a svelte new figure at the People’s Choice Awards Jan. 5, but she really doesn’t want to talk about it!

Former Disney starlet Raven-Symoné has shed more than 30 pounds since 2008, but she hates all the attention she’s getting because of her slimmed down look.

“Actually, now I wear bigger clothes because I don’t like the way people stare at me,” the 25-year-old performer told People.com ‘s Dahvi Shira at the People’s Choice Awards in Los Angeles Jan. 5. “I liked it before. Now, you’re just looking at me for the wrong reasons. Before, you were actually looking at me for a real reason.”

Raven — who’s been on TV her entire life, starting with The Cosby Show in 1989 — talked in 2009 about being sick of being criticized for her weight.

“People come up to me and have certain words for me, but you know what I do? I say, ‘I’m healthy, I exercise, I believe in myself, and I think I’m beautiful,’” she said. “You just have to learn how to transform the pressures into something that doesn’t soak into you on a personal level. You see it, you breathe past it, you don’t let it sink into your self-esteem.”

So how did the That’s So Raven star spark her mega loss? “I’ve been not stressing,” she admitted. “I’ve been in my own house, decorating and finding hobbies.”

We love Raven’s self confidence — and most importantly, that she’s happy and healthy!

Precious cleaned up at the 41st Annual NAACP Image Awards on Feb. 26 in Hollywood. Not only did the movie pick up awards for Best Motion Picture and Best Independent Motion Picture, but stars Gabourey Sidibe and Mo’Nique received awards for Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress, respectively. Other big winners included Tyler Perry, Keri Hilson and Jada Pinkett Smith.
