Raffaele Sollecito’s relationship with Amanda Knox may have started as an Italian love story, but quickly turned into a thriller romance. Each was accused in the murder of Amanda’s roommate Meredith Kercher in 2007, and their lives forever changed.

Raffaele tells all in his new memoir Honor Bound: My Journey To Hell And Back With Amanda Knox, out Sept. 18. The murder of the British exchange student became worldwide news, and the odd behavior of Raffaele, 28, and Amanda, 25, directly after the murder brought them great scrutiny from both the police and the media. While people mourned for Meredith, 21, Amanda remained cold and distant.

To make matters worse to prove Amanda’s innocence, she and her boyfriend-at-the-time Raffaele engaged in “bizarre behavior,” leading many to speculate they were guilty of the heinous crime.

“Foxy Knoxy,” as the media dubbed Amanda, was spotted shopping for underwear and doing cartwheels in front of investigators. She also sat on Raffaele’s lap during the couple’s interrogation.

Amanda and Raffaele were acquitted of the murder charges in 2011. Amanda returned to her home in Seattle, Wash. Raffaele’s residency is unknown.

Amanda will also release a book next spring about her own experiences for a reported deal of $4 million.

Amanda Knox, 24, and former boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito, 27, have had a lot to talk about after spending four years in prison and being falsely accused of a murder they allegedly did not commit.

So much, in fact, they talk on the phone everyday.

“We need each other — we speak to each other on the phone and write to each other every day,” Raffaele says in a tell-all interview with the Italian weekly Oggi (via The Daily Mail).  “We need to speak and write to each other to try and understand what happened to us and to look forward to a future that appeared broken forever but instead we can still build on.”

This is his first interview since being released on appeal on Oct. 3rd. He also revealed he is also planning a trip to the U.S. to visit Amanda.

“I will certainly go and see Amanda. She asked me over and I accepted with pleasure and there is no saying I will wait until Christmas,” he says. “I could go earlier – I could go at any moment. I really want to see her again, to speak with her and look into her eyes.”

It’s hard to imagine what the two went through, and we’re glad they have one another to lean on.

“We have so many things to say to each other. We spent four years in a circle of hell, we suffered unspeakably and it ruined our lives,” he says.

It’s nice to hear Raffaele open up after years of silence. But the big question still remains — when will Amanda give her tell-all interview of her side of the story?

Amanda Knox is now safely in Seattle after winning an appeal in the Italian murder case which derailed her life. Now jurors are speaking out about their time on the case, saying they were shocked she was imprisoned for so long for a crime she clearly didn’t commit!

Amanda, 24, was convicted in 2009 for the 2007 killing of her roommate Meredith Kercher, but she was cleared of the crimes in Italian court along with her ex-boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito. Juror Mauro Chialli said there was no doubt of their innocence through the appeal trial, Italy’s state-run RAI television reports.

“I saw the faces of these two kids, and they couldn’t bluff,” he said. “They didn’t bluff. My point of view is that these kids weren’t guilty. They weren’t there.”

After returning home to Seattle, Wash., Amanda Knox was reunited with her former boyfriend David Johnsrud — the guy she dated before going to study abroad in Perugia, Italy. While Amanda was imprisoned in Italy over the past few years before being cleared on the charges of murdering her former roommate Meredith Kercher, Amanda and David stayed in touch through letters and phone calls. But according to Amanda’s dad, Curt Knox, Amanda and David are just friends right now.

“Amanda has been around DJ [since returning home],” revealed Curt, reported the New York Post. But they aren’t “boyfriend and girlfriend” again.

Amanda just wanted to see her friend. “It’s a friendship, and that’s what it is,” shared Curt. “It’s 48 hours in; it’s a little early to be dealing with that.”

David visited Amanda behind bars in Italy last year. After seeing her, he told the London Mirror that they planned to go on trip together when Amanda was released. “We’ll go backpacking, away from any cameras,” he said.

While in prison, Amanda wrote a letter to her former Italian lover Raffaele Sollecito that she still had feelings for David.

Amanda Knox has spent the past four years behind bars for a murder she says she did not commit. The Seattle native nervously took the stand in Perugia, Italy Oct. 2 and gave her 10 minute testimony in fluent Italian. Amanda’s testimony started off rocky as she couldn’t keep from crying on the stand, but she regained her composure and pleaded with the jury: “I’m innocent.”

Amanda, who paused repeatedly and fought back tears, told the courtroom that she was not responsible for the brutal murder of her British roommate Meredith Kercher in 2009.

“I am paying for my life for something I haven’t done. I lost a friend in the worst and most inexplicable way,” Amanda said. “I’m not the person they’ve portrayed me to be. They say I will escape. I won’t escape. I just want to go home. I’m innocent and we didn’t do it.”

Amanda continued: “I was terrified when Meredith’s body was discovered because I thought that it could have been me. Had I been there and not been with Raffaele I could have been killed, too. Meredith was my friend. I did not kill. I did not rape. I did not steal. I wasn’t there. I wasn’t there at the crime.”

Amanda and her ex-boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito have been in La Cappane prison for more than 1,400 days and are facing possible life sentences. The case has been heard by two judges and six jurors who will ultimately decide the fate of these once lovers.

Amanda, who was originally found guilty of the murder in December of 2009, is attempting to overturn the ruling by pointing out that the DNA evidence is lacking and the Italian police did not protect the crime scene.

No matter what the outcome, the judge made it quite clear: “This is not a football match. I don’t want to hear cheering or comments. I want silence and respect for the victim.”

Rudy Guede pinned the guilt on Amanda Knox and then-boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito and Amanda was shocked by his statement. “He knows what the truth is. I don’t know what happened that night,” she said on the stand.

In a letter he wrote to a news website in 2010, Rudy stated that the homicide was committed by Amanda and Raffaele, CNN.com reported — and he is sticking to what he said. The letter’s content was presented and Guede’s testimony occurred during Knox’s appeal on June 27.

Knox stated that she was ‘shocked’ by Guede’s claim.

Here’s an interesting extra bit — Guede’s information isn’t even based on facts or eyewitness accounts. His defense lawyer says it was based on ‘a feeling.’ So maybe Knox still has some hope? Two pieces of evidence, including a knife and a metal clasp belonging to Kercher’s bra, that were used against her in court are being retested. Will the hard evidence overcome the not-so-legit letter?

The hearing is adjourned until July 25.

Amanda Knox received a huge break in her murder conviction when an Italian court granted her the right to retest the DNA evidence used to convict her of the murder and sexual assault of roommate Meredith Kercher in 2007. Amanda and Meredith were both exchange students in Italy when Meredith was murdered and Amanda, her boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito, and Rudy Hermann Guede were charged with the crime.

Rudy is already serving a 16 year sentence for his role but Amanda and Raffaele are attempting to overturn their 26 and 25 year sentences respectively. Amanda made a statement to being home at the time of the murder in the days following, but later recanted saying she had been under duress.

As for the evidence, while Amanda’s DNA had been found on a knife there was never any actual traces of blood discovered.
