The Voice officially jumped on the British boy band band wagon by kicking off the April 17 episode with a performance by The Wanted. After what I thought was kind of a pointless performance, the cuts began. From Christina Aguilera‘s team, America decided that Chris Mann was the best remaining option, leaving Ashley De La Rosa and Lindsey Pavao to battle it out and at the mercy of Christina.

Ashley went first, singing Lady Gaga‘s “You and I,” which I realized sounded so much better on American Idol when Elise Testone sang it. Adam Levine didn’t think it was that great, either. Lindsey sang “Please Don’t Go” by Mike Posner, which definitely showcased her as the better singer. When it came down to deciding, Christina saved Lindsey, sending her to the semifinals.

Over on Blake Shelton‘s team, the viewers saved Jermaine Paul, leaving Raelynn and Erin Willet to compete for the remaining spot.

Erin went first, singing “Proud Mary,” which was definitely way better than her previous performance. Raelynn stuck to her country roots, as well her youthful personality, singing “If I Die Young” by The Band Perry.

The closing credits began rolling on the screen and Blake still had not saved a contestant. When pressured by Carson Daly, he blurted Erin.

Um… What?

First Jesse Campbell and now Raelynn! I thought Raelynn did a way better job with her performance last night and in the overall competition. Blake seriously pulled a Christina on this one.

On a more positive note, Justin Bieber showed up during the show for the world premiere of an exclusive clip from his video for “Boyfriend.” The clip showed Justin caressing a female, playing a guitar and being groped by several female hands. He also announced that the full album, Believe, would be released June 19th. That was definitely my favorite part of the night.

Next week, Team Adam and Team Cee Lo Green will compete for spots in the semifinals.
