Michelle Obama looked gorgeous in the Tracy Reese dress that she chose to wear for her speech during the opening night of the Democratic National Convention, on Tuesday, Sept. 4, and we’re not the only ones who think so! Famed fashion designer Rachel Roy loved the First Lady’s fashion choice.

HollywoodLife.com spoke exclusively with Rachel on the red carpet at the Style Awards on Wednesday, Sept. 5, where she told us how much she thought the dress reflected Michelle’s strength and beauty!

“I loved it,” Rachel said. “I was so proud of Tracy. She’s a girlfriend of mine, and I think she nailed it. I think that, from the colors to the silhouette, it was perfect, and it only emphasized what a strong, beautiful woman was wearing it.”

The collection, which was all about, “balancing opposites,” played with textures and color while also incorporating stellar accessories. So, who does Rachel see the collection on? She said she’s inspired by “smart, strong women,” like Michelle Obama, Anna Wintour, and Oprah!

We got to catch up with the reality star at the designer’s Spring 2012 collection!

While in NYC, Kim Kardashian has been making her rounds during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week — and we got to catch up with the reality star at Rachel Roy‘s spring 2012 collection. During a pretty, outdoor presentation, Kim told us how the designer inspires her now that she’s dipped into the design world.

“She’s just really inspiring to me as I’m not designing and I’ve always looked up to her,” Kim said — and that’s not all! The reality star said she also appreciates the way Rachel designs. “Rachel really knows how to design and dress a real woman.”

Rachel Zoe may attend Fashion Week in New York and Milan hoping to find show-stopping dresses for her high-profile celeb clients, but that doesn’t stop her from dressing her best for the occasion! In Milan Fashion Week alone, Rachel showed up sporting a slew of designer get-ups. For Giorgio Armani, she wore Armani, (and even sported a red hat!), for a Bulgari event, she opted for Louis Vuitton, for an Armani event, she dressed up in Rachel Roy, for day 1 of the Milan shows, she showed off a vintage YSL leopard dress. We can only hope all of the Fashion Week fun was captured for the upcoming season of The Rachel Zoe Project!
