If anyone knows how to always look stylish and chic, it’s designer Georgina Chapman, co-founder of Marchesa. When she isn’t sending ethereal frocks down the runway or watching them storm the red carpet, she’s judging Project Runway All Stars alongside designer Isaac Mizrahi, mentor Joanna Coles, and host Carolyn Murphy. We got to catch up with the multi-tasking mom, (who currently has baby number two on board!), who filled us in on what it’s really like on the second season of the fashion reality show — and she even gave us her personal take on Kate Middleton‘s Royal maternity style!

“She’s so stylish, she always gets it right,” she said when we asked her about Kate. “I think it depends on body type. Everyone changes differently, but you need to be comfortable and definitely embrace these wonderful months of your life, it’s just great.”

While Georgina admits she has been “rather lucky with easy pregnancies,” she sympathizes with the Duchess and her bout of acute morning sickness. “I hope she’s feeling better, I really do. The poor thing,” she said.

If anyone knows how to keep it stylish and chic during pregnancy, it’s definitely Georgina. We think trying to stay comfortable during these nine months is a great piece of advice for Kate, especially since she has been feeling under the weather — and we can’t wait to see how her maternity style evolves, along with her growing baby bump!

The episode opens with the designers having to choose a shoe from the Nine West showroom in order to inspire a show-stopping 70’s outfit. I am very excited for this challenge, because who doesn’t love to dress a party girl? Plus getting some inspiration from a fabulous shoe should be relatively easy.

When we see the designers at Mood they all look pretty frantic. They are racing around, searching for some 70’s excitement fabric. Wendy is going to do a leather pant and she is running around looking for some fabric and chains and you can tell she is getting a little stressed. At one point I think she says she can’t even handle the pressure.

When we get back to the workroom, we see all the designers begin to compare their skill level and develop friendships. Althea begins to start questioning, “Who is real and on her level.” All the designers are nervous about competing against Ullie and Anthony Ryan. Everyone pretty much sees themselves up against those two.

As they’re working you hear Casanova’s inspiration, which cracks me up. It’s a ‘Nylon Slutty Girl’ challenge, he thinks of the dress as something that should be picked up at the dry cleaners shortly after being worn because the girl doesn’t remember what happened — and I can imagine his fuscia dress being just that as he starts draping it against the mannequin.

As we see the designs start to come together, Laura Kathleen says Wendy is “killing it” if she is trying to design a costume.

As Joanna comes into the workroom to start her critique, we see everyone get a lot of advice. It seems that Ivy is working more for the prize than for the challenge and Kayne has to line up those stripes in order to make those palazzo pants work.

As the designers finish their day with a 70’s style dance party we see them gather for a very special announcement back at home — and it is quite an exciting announcer! The one and only KARL LAGERFELD gives the designers a great piece of advice, which is so inspirational and true: be creative and don’t be afraid. That is what being a designer is about — believing in what you can create and make.

As we see the designers finish up their creations I love when Ullie says that her design is a “New Ullie,” which I believe makes it a Newllie. Hope that’s a good thing in front of the judges!

The second season of Project Runway All-Stars will debut this Thursday, Oct. 25, on Lifetime — and what better way to introduce the premiere than with a star-studded evening? Meryl Poster, President of Television atThe Weinstein Co., is hosting the event at Nine West’s flagship store in NYC — and all of the contestants and judges will be in attendance!

While guests will begin to mingle and feast on small bites and cocktails around 8PM, the show will promptly start at 9PM. Isaac Mizrahi himself told us all about the new season when we caught up with him at the launch of his FABULOUS fragrance at Bloomingdale’s in NYC. He said, “This season was so riveting this time. From the minute it started the competition was so fierce, and so was the level of drama… you could cut it with a knife!”

We can’t wait for the new season!

How appropriate that the very byline of the episode was named, “Day by Day,” in tune with the musical Godspell. If I must, the challenge was about creating a garment for one of the characters. Now I would love to do a sing and dance and tell you what went down, but it’s the usual scoop: trip to Mood, sew, meltdown, sew some more, break a leg, break a needle — but I have decided this time to write about my Auf’ing. Sad to say it was my time to go.

I was invited to participate and agreed to appear on Project Runway All-Stars with some resistance and a bit of, “Oh my g-d-I really don’t know if I want to put myself through this again.” With no sleep, food you find in Deli’s with a buffet section filled with yesterdays mix-ins, accommodations for Mila’s hooker lady and a battery pack slapped to your back I did it anyway, cause that’s where it all began and quite honestly I was flattered!

I have worked hard and built a great brand and I needed to leave the nest again and see what awaited. Well here it goes…day by day and night by night, new challenges, new friends, (you actually do make lasting friendships, believe it!), ups and downs, highs and lows, the show covers it all. Why? Because you put yourself out there again, you challenge yourself, you face your fears and you ultimately become a braver, stronger, crazier person for it. I can read other blogs until my eyes bleed: the good, the bad, the ugly. I can hear people who shop at wWlmart and Sears throw out opinions about the finish on my hem and I can hear the guy in the middle of nowhere, (population 5), wish for the whole Nieman Marcus accessory wall to fall on our heads — but I don’t care!

I’m a mother of two stunning kids and I don’t care if it’s slowed me down in a game show on TV or made me wish I was home kissing their cheeks — what I do care about is that my kids know that Mommy has worked hard, that she has done it with integrity and that nothing comes easy! At the end of the day, you walk off with your head held up and, as they say on Broadway, “THE SHOW MUST GO ON.”

Talk about the four seasons, this episode had it all! Let’s face it, you see Angela holding all these bags and you are thinking, “Amen, they are taking us from the mad house to Paris,” alas, that was not the surprise! I mean why would they want us to suffer any less than we already have? While we think the team challenge would have ruffled all our leaves, well here comes the HEAD TO HEAD Challenge!

Not only do we have to design an outfit, we have to go all out and eat our young — okay, here goes! Round 1: Jerell and Michael are all about Winter, which is kinda funny considering the context, (darkness, plagarism, exhaustion, seasonal drepession), the other side of the room is heating up to an all time high of Summer which is Kenley V. Mondo and a war of the polka dots — really polka dots?

Austin and I are happily skipping through the fact that we have Spring with all it’s hints of promise and new beginnings. I am completely comfortable in this zone and happy to not be layering it on sans Rami vs Mila in the peak of Fall, talk about happy campers! Okay so let’s cut to the chase and really see what this season, (um episode), is all about. Who copied who? I am sure this is firing up all the blogs in the hemisphere, so I am just going to get to the bottom of it- BOTTOM Austin (I liked it, super quirky), Rami: Really Cynthia Rowley! Mondo (SHOCKER-mom’s 60th, a previous win, exhaustion-have I mentioned exhaustion, it was crash and burn and nothing was going to get Mondo to sit up and shine on this one) .

The TOP-Surprise! Jerell, congrats, you fought for first and won. ME: YAY! I am very proud of my MOM outfit, in fact I am wearing my MOM outfit! Kenley: loved this, easy kabreezy and Mila: strong look, same pants.

RAMI GOES HOME! Okay I need to say it out loud because it sort of sounds like a seasonal allergy rather than a FACT. Can’t we just take Claritan and bring back my Sister’s Anthony and Rami? Way to break up the family tree!

Handed with money, no time, (surprise, surprise!) and some serious chutzpah, (balls-for those that don’t know yiddish), we had to ask strangers for the clothes OFF THEIR BACKS, make them our muse and then create a fashion-forward look from this GARAGE sale — all 50% of it including fabric from MOOD, where we experience the true meaning of being friends — so cute!

Back at the workroom everyone has their claws, scissors and game faces on, we laugh, giggle, schvitz and sew, this time we have 2 days which allows us enough time to actually make a garment — THANK G-D!! There are some serious looks coming out of this challenge, some gorgeous, others, (in the HILARIOUS words of Anthony), “coming to America” outfit (you have to see it to believe it).

Onto the STREET(run)way, and all 3 girls are safe — I must say all 3 were STUNNING! The gents are left standing.
Mondo — phenomenal, very Michelle Pfieffer circa 1978, Austin — who really pulled out all the stops, (or studs!), just great and Rami– master of EVERYTHING, very Ralph Lauren chic-loved. TOP 3, rightly so.

Now on to the bottom, and this is where it gets tough. You see Anthony’s was stunning, the turban styling — he had it in spades! As for Jerrell, let’s agree to disagree, but we thought this was AUWETTTTAZZEINED! On to Michael, I liked it, granted you can’t exactly resell this outfit to some crazed fashion designer due to it’s lack of fabric, was quite chic.

VERY SADLY it was the amazing, funny, sassy, sensational Anthony that was sent packing. We were all shocked & devastated, and it just goes to show you never know what’s going to happen, you just gotta keep watching!

I have sworn off gelato for life! We are asked to choose a gelato flavor, taste it, get a fabric swatch and design a garment inspired by it all in 6 HOURS! 6 hours — I could go shopping in Nieman Marcus for 6 hours and still find nothing to wear! What are there people thinking, or at the least what the HELL am I going to do with a dark chocolate swatch and a throat on fire?

We are sent running, (this being the operative word), to a mini version of Mood. By mini, I mean miniscule: FANTASTIC! With 5.5 hours left and not enough time to cut and sew or sew and cut, designers resort to talking a lot about each other’s garments, (when did this become a TREND?). I know you can see the pandamonium, maybe even feel it, times that by 1000 or 4 hours and you have a much better idea of what we are going through.

Cutting to the last 10 minutes, we are finally sent off to show our colors on the runway. Mondo’s ca(ftan)taolupe is beautiful, Michael’s gorgeous grapefruit confection left our mouth’s watering and Mila’s is a confusing mix of red and white — don’t get this one, but all three are in the top. Sad to say Myself, Anthony, (which we all thought was in the top), and April, (inspired by Charlie and the Chocolate (funny) Factory), did a blueberry dress, like Viola she exploded. I can’t say the judging made me jump for joy, but I did jump into the arms of my fav Anthony — Amen! We both live to tell another tale from the inside. Michael wins again-master-congrats. Do me a favor next time you go to sleep, dream of making a dress — you have 6 hours to make your dreams come true…GOODNIGHT and good luck!

On tonight’s episode ‘Good Taste Tastes Good’ the ‘All Stars’ must design an outfit in 6 hours — and that’s not all! They will have to race the clock to produce flashy, splashy wear for Victoria Secret model Miranda Kerr - good luck contestants! Aside from the time crunch, designer Diane Von Furstenberg will also stop in and serve as a guest judge.
