The model and mommy-of-two, who is currently expecting baby number three, shares her maternity style must-haves and exercise routines with you so you can stay trendy and fit throughout your pregnancy!

Michelle Alves, who’s appeared in magazines from Vogue to Sports lllustrated, hit the runway for Victoria’s Secret and works with designers like Michael Kors, spoke with HollyBaby.com exclusively about her fashion staples and lets YOU know how to stay in supermodel shape before, during and after pregnancy!

What are your maternity wear staples?

I live in James Perse long tanks and American Apparel cotton dresses from the beginning. Later on in my pregnancy, I like to wear the 7 For All Mankind jeans with an elastic band and tops from DVF’s maternity line.

What sorts of clothes work well for pregnant women?

It depends on a woman’s height. I like long and short dresses that are well shaped around the bust and loose on the body. If you are tall, flared pants work well, but if you are shorter, I think leggings under long tops work best.

When it’s cold I like a wool tight dress or a long sweater with stockings and boots. I also love a good cardigan. The style that doesn’t close in the front and just hangs loose is the best because people don’t even notice you are pregnant.

How do you keep in shape throughout your pregnancy?

The most important is how you were keeping in shape before you got pregnant. It’s much easier to get your body back if you had the body you wanted before your pregnancy. During pregnancy, I like to swim and do yoga and Pilates.

How do you lose the baby weight? Diet? Exercise?

To help lose the baby weight after pregnancy I breastfeed for at least a year which can help you burn up to 600 calories a day.

I don’t start exercising until one month after giving birth. I give my body a chance to recover first and then I do Pilates and alternate walking with jogging using weights. Slowly I get back into the rhythm that I was in before getting pregnant.

One important thing I learned was not to indulge yourself too much (that counts for during pregnancy too!)

What are your beauty essentials?

I like to use oils for the body and an amazing moisturizing skin cream from the line, Vanicream.

What kind of mom are you?

I’m a very hands-on mom. I’m Brazilian and we like to cuddle and give a ton of hugs and kisses. We travel a lot, so we try to maintain a regular routine when we are at home. We want each of our children to have a good heart and be courageous. Despite the fact that I am a mom, I don’t forget that I’m also a woman and a wife. I like to look good and feel both healthy and sexy. I make sure to also create some time for myself, it’s important to really be a successful mother.

The founder of Liz Lange Maternity knows how to be stylishly pregnant. Follow these tips and you’ll always have the best dressed bump!

Are you like Ali Larter or Christina Applegate, wondering just how you’re going to dress that bump that’s growing bigger by the day (and possibly the hour)? Maternity fashion designer Liz Lange, 44, — who recently launched her first non-maternity collection called Completely Me by Liz Lange for HSN — has 10 simple style rules for moms-to-be. The wife of Jeffrey Lange and  mom of Gus, 10, and Alice, 8, tells us why skinny jeans and bikinis are OK, and dishes on her biggest rule of all — no tent dresses allowed!

1. DO Try Skinny Jeans
Skinny jeans are a definite DO. Just DO make sure they are super-stretchy and pair them with anything and everything. I love them with a fitted, stretch, button-front shirt and a boy’s camel blazer (wear the blazer open and it doesn’t even need to be maternity — I buy mine at the boys’ department at Brooks Brothers, as I love the shrunken proportion).

2. DO Wear Bikinis
The beach or pool are the two places where I think naked bellies (pregnant or not) are a DO! But anywhere else, bare-skin bellies are a DON’T.

3. DON’T Wear An All-Over Print
It is a total myth that pregnant women can’t wear patterns. Even bold patterns (which I adore) are a DO, just don’t wear them head-to-toe. Mix them in with a solid.

4. DO Layer
Pregnant women often get hot and want to peel something off. Just keep your layers light so that they don’t add bulk — extra bulk is the last thing a pregnant body needs.

5. DO Wear Leggings
I wore leggings to and from the hospital when I had my son; they are so stretchy that they truly work even at the very end. Dress them up with a cute tunic top or long blazer.

6. DON’T Limit Yourself To Empire-Waist Tops And Dresses
Empire-waist dresses and tops feel so old-school maternity to me. I far prefer a wrap dress for third-trimester dressing. They are inherently adjustable as you can tie the waist as tightly or loosely as you need and they give you a waist and define your figure in a flattering way. They also often show cleavage (and cleavage is one of pregnancy’s big pluses!)

7. DO Show Off Your Legs
I think pregnant women should show off their legs. It’s cute and sexy. I love short, stretchy miniskirts and ’60s-inspired A-line mini shift dresses. Pair them with ballet flats or this season’s very popular kitten heels.

8. DON’T Hide Your Body
I think I kind of invented the whole “new look” in maternity fashion when I launched my line over a decade ago, and it’s all about fitted clothing that show off your pregnancy, so body-hugging dresses are a big DO!

9. DO Go Neutral
When in doubt, dip yourself in one neutral color and you will always look thinner (it creates an unbroken line) and appropriate. This season gray or camel feels very right, but I also love black and navy (so slimming) or chocolate brown.

10. DON’T Wear Stilettos
As much as I adore teetering around in my sky-high stilettos, they are not a good pregnancy choice. No one wants to see a pregnant woman appear off-balance — nothing chic about that! I love ballet flats, kitten heels or shorter chunky heels. In the warmer months, try sandals and open-toe shoes as it is always sexy to show a little skin, even if its only on your feet. But ankle straps are a huge don’t. They cut off your legs in the most unflattering way, and gladiators are also a no: they’re too heavy — you want to look light and delicate.

Doting husband is trying to get his divalicious wife to trade in her sky-high stilettos now that she’s expecting. But when he went looking for a pair of ballet flats in her huge closet, he was out of luck! Did you give up your stilettos when you were pregnant?

Mariah Carey, 41, is going to have to get used to the exhaustion and achy feet that come along with pregnancy! The singer, who just announced that she’s expecting a baby this spring with her husband Nick Cannon, 30, may have a massive shoe collection, but not one pair of those shoes is flats! Mariah phoned into Nick’s radio show “Rollin’ with Nick Cannon” on 92.3 WXRM-FM yesterday (Oct. 29) and the couple discussed a mini battle they had the day before — over Mariah’s stiletto fetish!

Mariah finally admits she’s pregnant!

“I come home yesterday to help my wife get ready for her video shoots and she has these 19-inch heels on,” Nick announced to the on-air viewers. “So I go into the closet searching for some flats for my wife … She got a lot of damn shoes — it’s like a frickin’ Macy’s. [And] Mariah Carey does not own one pair of flat shoes.”

Pregnant Ali Larter and Christina Applegate won’t give up their high heels either! Is it dangerous?

Mariah, who tried to defend herself said, “To be fair, I had some boots from Aspen, some Dior boots.” “Ski boots!” Nick argued. But Mariah continued, “And then we did find some flats and then they were a regular ballet slipper, like a beige, and I was like, ‘I don’t think so.’”

Even Mariah experiences the typical pregnancy woes, like morning sickness!

So the reason why Mariah doesn’t own a pair of flats is because she doesn’t like them! Especially when they’re plain and beige! Well, at least Nick got his self-proclaimed diva wife to put on some comfortable shoes– even if they were her Dior ski boots! “Basically, I got Mariah Carey, the high-heel queen, to put on some flats. And this is amazing. I’m going shoe shopping today, needless to say, to buy you some flat shoes.” Mariah seemed very happy about this idea! But will she actually wear them? Only time will tell!

Oh, baby! A glowing Alanis Morissette showed off her blossoming bump on Monday (Oct. 4) in Los Angeles International Airport!

First time mom-to-be Alanis Morissette, 36, and her rapper husband Mario “Souleye” Treadway, 30, were spotted arriving home from a trip to Germany with their baby-on-board! The glowing singer looks bumpier and more beautiful than ever in a gray fitted jacket and lace top!
