New footage from ‘The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey’ just hit the web — and it’s prrrrecioussss!

I hope you like tiny men with hairy feet, because this new trailer for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey is full of ‘em! We got a brief look at the movie back in Dec. 2011, but now we have nearly three minutes of footage from the Peter Jackson epic to drool over — including our first extended look at Gollum! (Or Smeagol, whatever you want to call him.)

Though die-hard Hobbit fans are already complaining about the trailer’s lack of Smaug — the dragon Bilbo battles in the movie, not to be confused with smog, the layer of filth hovering over Los Angeles — I think this trailer gives us plenty to chew on until the movie’s Dec. 14 big-screen debut.

Peter Jackson is helming the two-film ‘Lord Of The Rings’ prequel, and has released the first still from the movie!

Peter Jackson‘s epic Lord Of the Rings prequel The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey is filming, and we finally have a look at the highly-anticipated film.

The shot — courtesy of Entertainment Weekly — shows star Martin Freeman as the titular hobbit Bilbo Baggins, looking deep in thought. We just can’t stop staring at his huge ears!

Elijah Wood Will Reprise His Role As Frodo Baggins To Star In 'The Hobbit!'

‘The Lord Of The Rings’ prequel reunites the star with series director Peter Jackson.

Elijah Wood, 29, will return to New Zealand to shoot The Hobbit, the prequel to the mega-popular The Lord Of The Rings franchise, Deadline reports. The film will be helmed by Peter Jackson, 49, who directed and co-wrote the original trilogy.

The news comes as a surprise to many fans, as the action of J.R.R. Tolkien’s book The Hobbit takes places 60 years before the original trilogy — Elijah’s character Frodo Baggins isn’t even alive yet! But fan sites have speculated Frodo will be involved as a framing device to the story, perhaps reading and narrating the tale as it unfolds onscreen.
