A retired Navy SEAL who was present for Osama bin Laden‘s May 2011 assassination is telling his story in the new book No Easy Day, and he tells CBS’ 60 Minutes that it’s already drawing controversy. “My worry from the beginning was that this is a political season,” explains the former SEAL, who goes by the name Mark Owen. “This book is not political whatsoever. It doesn’t bad mouth either party.”

“We specifically chose September 11 [as a release date] to keep it out of the politics,” he says. “If these crazies on either side of the aisle want to make it about politics, shame on them.”

But Owen’s book doesn’t just tell his story, but also the stories of the “hundreds of Americans who spent years gathering intelligence, planning and training” for the eventual assault. As far as Owen is concerned, the SEALS “just took care of the last 40 minutes.”

He even details the “dress rehearsal” that took place at a full-scale replica of Osama bin Laden’s compound built in the United States. He says that went “fine.”

Owen’s 60 Minutes interview airs one week from today, Sept. 9, on CBS. Watch a preview video below:

In May 2011, six Navy SEAL members bursted into Osama bin Laden‘s Pakistani compound and ended his life , and now one of those men — whose pen name is Mark Owen — has released a tell-all book recounting that historical day. And according to his recollection, Osama was already almost dead when they found him!

The Huffington Post obtained a copy of the tell-all which claims that Osama was already fatally wounded  – despite reports claiming the terrorist leader was armed and ready to fight the SEALs.

“We were less than five steps from getting to the top when I heard suppressed shots. BOP. BOP. I couldn’t tell from my position if the rounds hit the target or not. The man disappeared into the dark room,” Mark writes. “Blood and brains spilled out of the side of his skull,” adding that another SEAL “”trained our lasers on his chest and fired several rounds. The bullets tore into him, slamming his body into the floor until he was motionless.”

Mark goes on to say that what happened in bin Laden’s room essentially went against the orders of their mission.

“I am not going to tell you how to do your job. What we’re saying is if he [Osama] does not pose a threat, you will detain him,” Mark writes, recounting the instructions they were given.

The book was reportedly slated to hit book stores on September 11, 2012, but now it’s scheduled to be released one week in advance.

While trying to take over the world, Osama and his followers made sure to enjoy their free time with a ‘fairly extensive’ porn collection.

Osama Bin Laden was quite the connoisseur of adult films. The recently killed terrorist responsible for the horrific attacks on 9/11 in NYC didn’t just spend his time trying to upset world peace and kill the innocent … he watched porn. Can someone say Eww!?!

Reuters was the first to report that: “The pornography recovered in Bin Laden’s compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan, consists of modern, electronically recorded video and is fairly extensive.”
Whether the tapes belonged to Bin Laden are unclear.

OK, so maybe Sarah was portrayed by Tina Fey for a sketch on the May 7 episode. But she couldn’t have been funnier — and more accurate — once again taking aim at the politician-tuned-reality star.

“First I want to acknowledge that this week we finally vanquished one of he world’s great villains,” Tina-as-Sarah said. “And I for one am thrilled to say good riddance to Katie Couric.”

Sarah thinks Katie is more of a villain than Osama bin Laden? Harsh, but probably true!

Sarah — your tweet accusing President Obama of pussy-footing because he hasn’t shown Osama’s dead head, shows you think the terrorist IS just a trophy.

Clearly Sarah, you see hunting for Bin Laden in the same league as hunting for caribou on Sarah Palin’s Alaska! You made sure on the hunting episode of your reality show to film and then show us your “kill” on TV.

Your dad, Chuck Heath, has a house full of mounted animal heads on the wall. You seem to be applying the same “hunting” mentality to the world’s most dangerous terrorist.

Sorry, Sarah. President Obama had the intelligent and practical wisdom to tell CBS News that “We don’t trot this stuff out as trophies.”

Get it Sarah — Bin Laden’s head isn’t a trophy to be mounted on the White House walls. Not only is it morally inappropriate, he is still a human being and not a caribou, but as the President said, a photo could incite “additional risk or be used as a propaganda tool.”

Since when is showing a photo of Bin Laden dead with a bullet in his head “part of the mission.” The mission was to capture or kill Bin Laden so he would no longer be a threat to the world and so he would be punished for the murders of thousands of innocent people.

That was done and done. Even Al Qaeda acknowledged that Osama is dead, in a statement posted on websites today, May 6.

So, Sarah, stick to hunting caribou if you really must and stop accusing the democratic President, who fulfilled his mission to rid the world of Osama, of “pussy-footing.”

The reality TV star has words of wisdom for Barack, but her tweet reeks of delusion!

This afternoon, President Obama‘s administration made the wise decision not to release the death photos of Osama bin Laden. Barack gave several clear and concise reasons to refrain from releasing it, including the idea that “Osama bin Laden is not a trophy. He is dead, and let’s now focus on continuing the fight until Al Qaida has been eliminated.”

But Sarah Palin is using Barack’s temperance as an opportunity to call him a coward.

Although releasing the death photograph would exponentially fuel the fires of extremists looking for ANY reason to pull the trigger on America, Sarah is using this decision as a chance to tweet rhetoric: “Show photo as warning to others seeking America’s destruction. No pussy-footing around, no politicking, no drama;it’s part of the mission.”

Besides the obvious irony of accusing a president who orders a brilliantly tactical military strike which kills an enemy the United States has pursued for nearly a decade of “pussy-footing,” Sarah is just using this issue as a convenient platform to take any credit away from Barack. Don’t believe me?

Let’s think of the reaction Sarah would have if he DID release the photos.

First, Sarah would say they were Photoshopped — guaranteed. Barack even addressed this when he said “Conspiracy theorists around the world will just claim the photos are doctored anyway.” Furthermore, if Obama’s prophecy of “releasing the photos will only serve to inflame public opinion in the Middle East” came true, Sarah would be the first to call for his head should violence arise. It would become an issue of “Barack trying to prove himself and get reelected by putting the lives of troops at risk,” and the situation would spin out of control.

All said, the decision to release these photos was lose-lose for Barack, and kudos that he erred on the side of caution. She may be used to shooting animals, but Sarah seems to conveniently underestimate the scope of Barack’s mission. To use the term “pussy-footing” in reference to Obama in any way isn’t disrespectful — it’s head-scratchingly inaccurate.

George W. Bush may have flown the “Mission Accomplished” banner, but Barack is the only one who actually accomplished a mission. It must be terrifying for Sarah to think a liberal achieved a military victory. And now she’s just flailing.

Disagree with Obama’s politics, but don’t disagree with facts by pulling the conspiracy card, Sarah — it’s just lazy.
