The suspect responsible for the school shooting today at Oikos University has been taken into custody. Law enforcement sources close to the investigation told The Associated Press that at least seven people have died after the morning shooting at an Oakland, CA religious university.

“I can confirm that we do have one person who has been detained that we believe is possibly responsible for this shooting,” Officer Johnna Watson said. ”We are interviewing the witnesses right now to try to determine if this person is known to them.”

Pastor Jong Kim, who founded the school about 10 years ago, said the shooter had previously been a nursing student at Oikos but was no longer enrolled, reported The Oakland Tribune. He was unsure whether the shooter had been expelled or dropped out voluntarily. Jong did not see the shooting take place, but said he heard about 30 gunshots. “I stayed in my office,” he said.

As the sound of gun shots continued, students panicked and started running out of the building, revealed Nam Gong Kyun, a 52-year-old English student from Korea. ”We heard many gunshots,” English teacher Lucas Garcia said. ”Everybody was scared, obviously.”

Earlier, television news footage showed wounded people being carried out of the building, and more gurneys were being brought in. ”Five victims have been admitted to Highland Hospital,” spokeswoman Jerri Randrup tells HollywoodLife.com exclusively. ”We are not able to identify the victims at this time.”

“One of the people who was inside the building, she was saying there is a crazy guy inside,” witness Brian Snow told KGO-TV. “She did say someone got shot in the chest right next to her before she got taken off in an ambulance.”

Since news of the tragedy broke, celebrities have taken to their twitter accounts to express their support and grief. “Sending out my prayers for those involved in the classroom shooting at OIKOS University in Oakland, CA. All we need is LOVE,” tweeted Khloe Kardashian Odom.

“My prayers go out to those involved in the shooting,” tweeted Eva Longoria.
