This week, Project Runway was all about promoting an active lifestyle as contestants attempted to create fun and trendy sports apparel!

Contestents found themselves in workout gear at the New Balance Track and Field Center at the Armory, where Heidi Klum and Tim Gunn awaited to tell them that they would be working in four teams of three, lapping around the field to win the title of team captain for the upcoming challenge. Before Heidi and Tim could blow the whistle, designer Cecilia abruptly quit the show, Josh C. makes a comeback, Oliver dramatically faints mid-run and Heidi (in 6-inch heels) has to help Bert reach the goal-line. The first to complete the run and win the title of team captain: Joshua, Bryce, Anthony Ryan and Viktor.

Amidst choosing team members, Heidi announces this weeks challenge in which designers will have to create 3 cohesive looks for her HK New Balance sneakers. The winning team’s look will be sold and manufactured online on Amazon.com as a part of Heidi’s line. The items will all be available for purchase August 26. The contenders were thrilled to have the opportunity to work on designs specially for Heidi.

Heidi, Michael Kors, Nina Garcia and guest judge, model Erin Wasson had mixed comments regarding all the designer’s final products showcased in the “Mean Girls”: The HK New Balance Sneakers fashion show. They loved Viktor’s gray dress and black motorcycle jacket, and Joshua’s team and their maxi dress, both of which won the challenge. Unfortunately for Danielle and Anthony Ryan’s designs, judges weren’t the least bit impressed. Danielle created yet another green chiffon top and skirt number, while Anthony Ryan went for a romper. Michael Kors went as far as to tell Anthony, “You’ve achieved the impossible. Your shorts are big and tight at the same time. She has camel toe in big shorts.” However, it was Danielle and green chiffon that got the boot.

My main observation from tonight’s episode of Project Runway is that Nina Garcia likes to say NO — and she says it a lot! The designers were presented with the challenge to design for the meticulous judge — and while it’s a huge honor, I definitely wouldn’t want to find myself on Nina’s bad side!

Nina was very straight forward from the start — she doesn’t like patterns, volume, or anything busy. While she’s a fan of streamlined silhouettes, she didn’t seem pleased when she stepped into the workroom to give the designers some input.

When it finally came time for the runway, the designers were in total panic mode — from sewing to gluing their pieces together at the last minute, I thought they were going to give Tim Gunn a coronary!

Joanna Coles, editor-in-chief of Marie Claire, served as the guest judge — and she was so blunt it was great! Whether she was establishing her authority (by saying, “If Nina came to the office wearing [Julie's 'droat'],” Joanna suggested, “I’d think she was asking to be fired”) or looking into the psychological state of the designers, she mused, “That makes me think your model’s depressed. It makes me think you might be depressed too, especially after this particular episode. Honestly, I’d think she was ill,” she was hysterical!

Anthony Ryan and Becky were called out for using the same fabric — although they were both safe. Kimberly was the winner of the week, with Nina ooh-ing and aah-ing over the separates, and the gold top, she designed, with Viktor a close second with his not-so-basic black get-up.

Unfortunately, Julie didn’t have the same luck, with her two-tone coat dress earning her a spot home.

On episode 4 of Project Runway, the contestants are specifically designing for Nina Garcia, Fashion Director of Marie Claire magazine. Along with being a judge on Project Runway since the beginning of the series, the Colombian native was also the Fashion Director at Elle magazine for eight years. Needless to say, the designers are super stressed and working harder than ever before!

I could go on about the fashion-saavy judge’s resume, but needless to say, if the designers want to get through this round, they need to give Nina exactly what she wants — or they will be OUT! In this preview, you will see the contestants getting down to the nitty-gritty of their designs more so than ever!

Fashion Director of Elle Magazine, best-selling author and judge of Lifetime’s Project Runway, Nina Garcia has a lot on her plate these days. And more recently her life has revolved around the duties of motherhood!

Nina and her husband David Conrod welcomed a new member of the family in November — a boy named Alexander, who joined big brother Lucas, 3. And Nina proves that motherhood is back in fashion!

“I’m so proud of him. He is cooing a lot and smiling. He’s gorgeous,” Nina told Hollybaby.com of her new baby, Alexander. “I am the proudest mom.”

We hope Nina has found the time to plan a fun-filled birthday bash — this mama deserves it! Happy Birthday Nina!

The fashion authority wants the bride-to-be to wear a gorgeous gown by Sarah Burton, Creative Director of Alexander McQueen, on the big day!

We caught up with Nina Garcia at the Chanel Tribeca Film Festival Artists Dinner at Odeon on Apr. 25, where she told us she’ll be up bright and early tuning in to the Royal Wedding — and she even weighed in on what she wants to see Kate wear when she comes down the aisle.

“I will be watching the Royal Wedding, of course! I have a 4 ½ month old who wakes up at 4am every morning so it’s already in my schedule. We’ll watch it together,” she said.

So, what does Nina want to see Kate wearing when she comes down the aisle? “I think that she should wear Sarah Burton but everything indicates that she will not,” she said. “But I’m still holding my breath for a miracle that she will wear a beautiful Alexander McQueen by Sarah Burton.”

The Project Runway judge gave birth 10 short weeks ago and is out and about at fashion week. How she’s dealing with breastfeeding and her new baby boy.

Nina Garcia is a hard-working mommy. In the midst of attending all the top shows at New York Fashion Week, the fashion director at Marie Claire magazine is also taking care of her new baby boy, Alexander, 2½ months. How does she do it? “I’m trying to stay as organized as I can,” Nina, 45, tells HollyBaby.com at the Tommy Hilfiger show on Feb. 13. “Lucky for me, I don’t live far so I’m running back and forth so I can be with him and feed him.” Now that’s dedication.

Nina, who also has a 3½-year-old son, Lucas with husband David Conrod, is basking in baby joy. “I’m so proud of him. He is cooing a lot and smiling. He’s gorgeous,” she says of Alexander. “I am the proudest mom.” And not only is she a proud mommy at home, but on the catwalk as well. Nina is supporting the alumni of Project Runway who are showing their collections at fashion week. “I’m trying to make it to as many of their shows as I can,” Nina reveals. “Christian Siriano had his show and Irina Shabayeva and Daniel Vosovic are showing. But I’m worried if I make it to one and not another’s that people will think I’m playing favorites. But I have a baby to take care of first!”

And speaking of babies, you would never know Nina gave birth to one two short months ago! By the look of her post-baby body, she could model any outfit down the runway! “I always feel like I’m lighter and I look better in the morning. Then by the evening I feel like I’m two sizes heavier!” she admits. “I wear a lot of black. I was pregnant last fall so now none of my fall or winter clothes fit me and it’s impossible to find any in stores since it’s all spring items now. So I wear the same thing a lot.”

Project Runway‘s Nina Garcia had an exciting holiday weekend! The fashionista, 45, and her husband David Conrod welcomed a healthy baby boy, Alexander David Conrod, who joins big brother, Lucas, 3½! “Delighted to announce that over the wknd we welcomed 8lb13oz Alexander David Conrod into our home!” Nina wrote on her Twitter. “Baby is doing great & Lucas is thrilled!”

A glowing Nina showed off her trendy pregnancy style!

HollyBaby.com talked to Nina in September and she said that Lucas was so excited to become a big brother! “It wasn’t hard to tell him [we had a baby on the way], because my happiness was contagious,” she said. “I’m sure there’ll be some jealousy at first, but we’re making sure to include him in all the preparations so he won’t feel left out.”

Although it is a challenge bringing a new baby into the picture, we’re sure Lucas will handle it very well. Besides, he has a new playmate now! Congratulations to the Garcia-Conrod clan!

The Project Runway judge looked absolutely divine as she strutted her  stuff down the red carpet at the Night of Stars in NYC!

Nina Garcia, who has a little over a month until her new baby arrives, showed off her beautiful bump while attending the Night of Stars at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City last night (Oct. 28). She wore a formfitting sheath dress and killer heels — proving that pregnancy won’t get in the way of looking fantastic! “If you love heels and you can wear them through your third trimester, go for it,” Nina says. The Project Runway judge and her husband David Conrod, who have a 3-year-old son, Lucas, already know that they are expecting another little boy this December!

“[Lucas] is really excited,” Nina tells HollyBaby.com exclusively. “It wasn’t hard to tell him [we had a baby on the way], because my happiness was contagious. I’m sure there’ll be some jealousy at first, but we’re making sure to include him in all the preparations so he won’t feel left out.
