Nicole Richie headed into the California desert to capture the look book for her Spring 2012 collection. From bright colors (like peacock blue and saffron), to silk embroidery, the collection displays Nicole’s inspiration, India, while also staying true to her boho-chic style. It’s no secret I have a huge girl crush on Nicole Richie — while I think most stars look best on the red carpet, I think the multi-tasking mom looks even better when she’s showing off her everyday style. Just check out her get-up from Jan. 6 — Nicole often wears denim shorts with tights, and the star took the opportunity to show off how she, once again, has mastered the art of pulling off this trend. I have to be honest, this isn’t something I would willingly throw on, but I love the way it looks! Considering how she kept the rest of her get-up simple, it wouldn’t be hard to recreate the outfit. The first thing you’ll need is a basic pair of shorts — while Nicole has opted for high-waisted cutoffs, if you would feel more comfortable in a short that’s a bit longer that can work too! Throw on a pair of opaque tights and black shoes — the shorts are eye-catching enough without working with crazy footwear. Nicole’s suede pumps look great because it breaks up the look without taking away from the overall outfit.

Next, tuck a basic, loose-fitting burnout tee or a basic cotton top into the shorts — again, this is something I’m sure you have lying around! Be careful with the jacket or coat you choose — you don’t want to go for something cropped because the shorts are short enough, but at the same time if it’s too long you won’t look like you have anything else on when you turn around!

While I recommend keeping your look simple, when it comes to the accessories have some fun, just like Nicole did! The crucial components that make her look so chic are the bright purse and patterned scarf. The stylish star took it even further and threw on a hat and shades — feel free to experiment and pair your get-up with what you feel most comfortable in.

Even if you’re thinking you would never wear denim shorts in the winter, I hope you’re inspired to experiment — you can look just as chic as the bohemian babe!

It looks like she has a traffic school uniform!

Just like us, Nicole Richie has a go-to casual get-up that she loves to re-wear — although she’s looking a bit too bundled for June! I’m guessing it must be super cold inside Nicole’s traffic school in LA — why else would she be so unseasonably bundled in the same exact outfit not once or twice, but on three different days?

The first time she stepped out sporting a floral dress, tights, her Hudson denim jacket, a scarf, Ray-Ban aviators, and her Balenciaga bag was on Apr. 21 — when it was 63 degrees. While this seems acceptable, I don’t understand why she wore the same get-up on Jun. 23 and Jun. 30, when it was a stifling 78 and 76 degrees. If I didn’t know any better, I would assume it was fall based on her outfit! Call me crazy, but I definitely think when it’s practically 80 degrees out it’s safe to leave the tights at home — especially in LA, where everyone seems to wear barely there clothing all year round! Although I have to admit, it’s nice to know that while she’s super stylish, she’s also totally practical when it comes to re-wearing her fave outfit. What do you think? Isn’t it odd that she’s wearing so many layers when it’s 78 degrees and sunny?
